Kareem is one of the most powerful prisoners in Oz, but not in the way that other leaders are. Him and him Muslim army do not deal in drugs or violence. Instead, Kareem uses his celebrity standing to get media attention on Oswald. When he first arrives to Oz, he tells Warden Glynn that "As of today, I run Oz." In his time at Oz, he writes one book on the Emerald City riot. Said's battles with the system leave him so stressed he develops heart disease.
Said is also known as Goodson Truman, implying that he changed his name to Kareem (Arabic for noble or generous) when he converted to Islam. His last name is pronounced "SayEED."
