A former pitching all star who succumbed to his ego. Kenny now must get his fastball, and his former lover April, back.
Kenny Powers (Danny McBride) first made a name for himself in professional baseball while on the Atlanta Braves in 2002. Kenny got the last out in the world series, and became a public icon. Kenny then went free agent, and started playing for the Yankees. He then went on to play for the Giants and the Red Sox, with his fastball decreasing in speed with every team. Kenny, now under fire for alleged steroid use, went to the Marlins, with a measly 83 average fast ball. The nail in Powers' career was the 2006 World Series, where Kenny pitched Reg Mackworthy (Craig Robinson) a grand slam, and lost the game.
Kenny now works as a gym teacher, and live with his brother Dustin (John Hawkes), Dustin's wife Cassie (Jennifer Irwin), and their three kids. At school, Kenny tries to woo over a former flame April Buchanan (Katy Mixon), who is currently engaged with the school's principal Terrance Cutler (Andrew Daly). By Kenny's side are the school's music teacher Stevie Janowski (Steve Little) and Clegg (Ben Best), the owner of a bar Kenny frequents. Kenny makes enemies with the owner of Ashley Schafer's BMW, Ashley Schafer (Will Ferrell), after a failed marketing attempt. Kenny must now get the girl, and his pitch back.
Kenny played for a new team every year from 2002 to 2006.
