Pryde of The X-Men
Born a mutant, Kitty had the ability to phase through solid matter, she was taught from a young age mutants were freaks and she hoped she wasn't one of them. Because of her fear, she never told anyone about her powers. Then one day, she received a letter addressed to her from Professor Charles Xavier telling her she was a mutant. He invited her to come to his mansion to meet with him. Arriving by taxi, she went in and found what she called a "ghost" of man in a wheelchair, the man was Professor X who explained that his mind was projecting the image for her to follow. The image led her to Professor X where he told her about the X-Men. She wanted to know how he knew about her powers when no one other than her did. He explained that by using a machine called Cerebro he is able to locate any mutant on the face on the planet at any given time.
He then showed her the Danger Room, a where the X-Men train against holograms. The first X-Man he showed her was Scott Summers AKA Cyclops who could shoot a beam of energy from his eyes, next was the Russian Piotr Rasputin AKA Colossus who was able to transform his body into organic steel making himself impervious to harm. After him she saw Allison Blaire AKA Dazzler who was able to transform sound into bolts of light. After her she spotted the German Nightcrawler, a teleporter and after him she saw Wolverine, a mysterious mutant from Australia who had razor sharp adamantium claws on his hands that were capable of cutting through anything and were indestructible. The last member of the team was Storm, Xavier's most trusted member of the team who was capable on controlling weather.
X-Men Evolution
When her power first manifested at fifteen, she had a nightmare one night and to her and her parents surprise, she fell through the ceiling and down into the basement; leaving her sheets stuck in the ceiling. The following day at her high school, she pushed into her locker by a couple of girls who picker on her because they thought she was nerdy. Her powers once again manifested themselves as she fell out of the locker just Lance Alver, a student and secretly a mutant whom Kitty had a crush on despite being terrified of at first was walking by. Lance also had a crush on Kitty but despite that he still wanted to use her powers to steal the answers for the upcoming exams. He tried convincing her to do so after showing her his powers, creating seismic waves and manipulating Earth. She later met Jean Grey, whom she mistook as a friend of the bullies until Jean used her powers, causing Kitty run off in fear of what she was becoming. Lance talked her into helping him steal the answers and he created an earthquake, destroying the building. Kitty escaped the building unharmed though with her family's support.
She left and joined Xavier's school, where one of the X-Men she met was Kurt Wagner AKA Nightcrawler, a blue elf-like mutant with the ability to teleport anywhere he can see. She was scared of him at first and was even more so when he accidentally crashed into her while trying to impress her. The two later became friends when Kitty accidentally caused Rogue to absorb his powers, putting him in a Coma leaving Kitty deeply worried about him. She would form a relationship with Lance when he placed his life in danger to save hers, forming deeper feelings between the both of them for one another.The two began dating, much to the dismay of both their teams and went to the school dance together. They later broke up as their differences became too much for either on of them to handle. During her time as an X-Man, she developed a strong father/daughter bond with Wolverine.
X-Men: The Last Stand
She was part of the X-Men team in the battle of Alcatraz Island, breaking into the prison and saving Leech from the Juggernaut. She was played by Ellen Page of Juno fame.
Personality
When she first discovered he powers, she was scared of them until Professor Xavier taught her control over them. Kitty is also one of the few characters in the Marvel Universe whose religion is known, which is Judaism.
