Lady in the Water is a 2006 fantasy film written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. The film focuses on apartment superintendent Cleveland Heep (Paul Giamatti) and his discovery of a young woman named Story (Bryce Dallas Howard) making a home out of his apartment building's pool. Cleveland soon discovers there is more to the woman when she is attacked by a brooding creature that is able to hide in plain sight. Cleveland takes responsibility for the timid Story, and unravels a mystery that involves all of the apartment complexes tenants in one form or another.
