In the eighth season, she receives powers equal to Clark's through a suit that drains to power of kryptonite
. However, this makes her weaken Clark if she is near him. When Luthor threatens to destroy the Daily Planet with explosive kryptonite, she uses her ability to absorb all the power and essentially become a walking piece of kryptonite. Because any intimacy between them could kill Clark, she departs.
