Clark Kent's co-worker and wife as well as his intellectual equal. She serves as the main love interest for Superman and is a ruthless journalist at the Daily Planet.
Lois Lane is a reporter for the Daily Planet alongside Clark Kent. She begins to follow Superman's adventures and report on them, but it soon turns into a relationship as she falls for the Man of Steel.In the comics, she has since married Superman and now knows his dual identity.
In Superman, Lois Lane first meets Clark Kent as her co-worker at the Daily Planet in Metropolis. He becomes interested in her, but she finds him to be unsophisticated and weird. Lois gets into a helicopter accident and is saved by Superman in his first public use of his powers. Later in the film, she is suffocated after her car falls into a crevice caused by Lex Luthor's missile. Superman traveled back in time in order the change history and save her.
In Superman II, Lane begins to get suspicious of Kent being Superman. While reporting at Niagra Falls, she tried to throw herself into the falls to get him to use his powers but he ends up saving her with subtle use of them. However, later in the night she succeeds to discover his identity. At the end of the film, Kent uses a kiss to erase her memory of knowing his secret identity.
In Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, Lois almost quits the Daily Planet as it starts to transition into a tabloid newspaper with headlines such as "Is Superman Dead?" after his cape is found. She ends up taking the cape to Kent's apartment and proclaims her love for Superman.
In Superman Returns, Superman finally returns to earth after being gone for years to search for remnants of his home planet. While he was gone, Lois Lane moved on and has a fiancée and child. She also had written an Pulitzer Prize-winning article titled "Why the World Doesn't Need Superman". However, after being saved a few times by the Man of Steel, she soon falls for him again. Her child is also revealed to share some of his superpowers, alluding to Superman being the true father.
In Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Lois Lane appears as a strong and independent character. She is a star reporter and willing to put herself in harm's way in order to get the big story. Even though Superman saves her on several occasions, there's also many situations where she successfully saves herself. She is not just a "damsel in distress."
Lois Lane appears in Smallville starting with season 5. She becomes a reporter for the Daily Planet and falls into relationships with several people, including Arthur Curry and Oliver Queen, before dating Clark Kent.
During the premiere of season 10, she discovers that Kent is "the Blur" after removing a blue kryptonite knife stabbed into him by Zod. It isn't until the fifth episode of the season that she reveals that she knows, and their relationship grows stronger with no more secrets between them. Later Kent proposes to Lane and she accepts.
