Let's discuss the trailer ..

The trailer looks bad, it looks awful. It's literally just Miley Cyrus mumbling and yelling throughout the entire thing. Is it just me or does it seem like a plot is non-existent? It's basically just a girls day to day life, if I wanted to see that I'd record myself and watch it back, I bet it'd be far more interesting.

I haven't seen the original French film, but the trailer makes it look very good! it looks more mature and actually seems like it has a story.

I'm really not looking forward to this at all.

Take a look at this video. This is what the movie is based on. Notice that unlike the 2012, this one is more about teen rebellion than true love.

My guess is that they thought that teen sexuality would not appeal to American audiences and so that emphasized all the parts that Americans like ("true love"). I can see why they would do that too. Teen sexuality and sexuality in general is a touchy subject in America. From my point of view, I see that films either sex as something deviant and bad (Project X) or they ignore altogether for some other value (movies about teen pregnancy, movies about true love).

Im just surprised and disappointed that Miley Cyrus has clawed her way out of the dark embrace of obscurity that was slowly starting to envelop her. I like Demi Moore, she deserves better. This will be bad, and I wouldnt be surprised if it tanks.

@Acura_Max: I agree! the original had themes of drugs, sex, teen issues and even issues of the mother character. The 2012 version looks so vapid and self-centered, so one dimensional. :/ What annoys me the most, is that it's the same director, Lisa Azuelos for both versions. How could she let it end up like this?

@CherryBomb: My bet is that the executives at Lionsgate or Mandate Pictures had a hand in it.

@Acura_Max: yeah, you're right. It's just annoying when you see a Director sell-out like that. :/

@CherryBomb: I know that feeling, but I am still hoping that the actual movie is similar to the original movie and that trailer was just hiding the more controversial stuff.

@Acura_Max: hopefully .. normally it's the trailer that looks impressive and it turns out to be a bad film, but maybe this is the opposite and it'll be good! time will tell (:

If by "discuss", you mean "rant angrily", then I'm in.

UGHHHHH.

ugh.

God, I can't...it's just disgusting that some kids actually watch shit like this and look up to it. THESE ARE NOT REAL PEOPLE!! THEY ARE PLASTIC MANNEQUINS TRYING TO EMULATE TRUE HUMAN EMOTIONS!!

Then again, in some ways that makes it a totally accurate portrayal of high school life.

Since we're on the subject, this site also lacks a page for the 2008 version of the movie.

Edit: Here is the page: Link

If you guys could lend a hand editing this that would be great.

The french version's trailer made that overall movie look decent, while the American one was atrocious as all Hell and makes the movie look unprofessionally bad. It's a sad fact that some people are actually into bullshit like the US trailer, but I won't rant about the full movie because I haven't seen it (and trust me, I don't want to at all).
