Well, I have about a bajillion questions about Lost, but these are 3 easy things that have been bugging me....

I've seen up until season 4, own season 5, and haven't seen anything from season 6.  I'm going to watch the latest 2 seasons when they're out on bluray.
I don't consider these spoilers, I've just been wondering about them for a loooonnnnggggg time.
  1. What is the Smoke Monster?
  2. Has the tattooed shark ever been explained?
  3. The four toed statue foot we saw - explanation behind that?

@Matthew:
  1. Never officially explained but Dharma did experiments on animals and had an underwater lab.  It is assumed to be just one that got loose.
  2. no idea.

3. The statue is of Taweret who is a goddess of fertility from ancient egypt. The goddess is always portrayed in art as having four toes because she has the legs of a feline.

It's been a good run, though in my opinion this has been the worst of the six seasons. They are fully aware this was the final season, and yet they leave so many questions unanswered.

If I remember rightly it was strongly implied that the room Jack was held in during the beginning of season 3 was the fillable room where they would presumably hold 'Ezra J. Sharkington' (for those of you who listened to the Lindelof/ Cuse podcast.)

Inside the four-toed statue was where Jacob lived. It used to be a statue of some sort of goddess, but the Black Rock ship came to the island in the middle of a fierce storm, and crashed right into the statue, wrecking it. So, the only thing that remained where was the foot.

Also, if you're out of the loop, it'd be important to know that the smoke monster is now masquerading as John Locke. As someone else already said, the smoke monster used to be an ordinary guy before he got shoved into the "light" of the island (whatever that means) and turned into smoke. Now, he wants to get off the island, but can only do so when the protector of the island (used to be Jacob, now Jack) and the remaining 'candidates' (not sure if this still applies) are killed. Only problem is, smokey can't do the actual killing.
