Like this, but with a painful lack of Angela Lansbury.

Following in the footsteps of great TV series such Murder, She Wrote and, well, just Murder, She Wrote two executive producers from LOST ( Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis) are headed to the great state of Maine for their next ABC drama. The show, called Once Upon a Time, is being billed as a fantasy/sci-fi drama bringing a modern take on fairy tales. In the story, the protagonist is a female with a unique and mysterious background.

The show will be set in a small town in Maine, because if the books and films of Stephen King have taught us anything, it's that Maine is magical, mysterious, and scenic. I was born and raised in Maine, and I can confirm all of these things are TRUE if you replace classic King creatures, the Tommyknockers, with oxycontin-addled rednecks. And absolutely, if you like a healthy dose of rusted out junk piles in everyone's front yards, sure it's scenic!

Bottom line, new fantasy/sci-fi show from LOSTies coming to ABC. Damon Lindelof is said to be taking a consultant role on the show as well, so here's hoping that will help inform its quality.

I always wish I'd stuck with Lost but it started so slowly. Perhaps I'll give this a shot and be more patient.

You should. The slow pace is what makes what happens in the show so shocking and surprising. They built it up good.

Is there any concept as eye-gougingly overdone and pointless as "a modern take on fairy tales"?  If I have to see another "bad-ass" little red riding hood, I'll...um...change the channel and be sad.

Oh, come on. 'Murder, She Wrote' was actually filmed in Mendocino County, just three hours from San Francisco...

Im excited! The premise, although conventional, is intruiging. And, once the LOSTies get their hooks in us we know how that turns out.
