Thoughts on the last Finale (blog post)

As I was reading a lot of the comments on the official thread on the forums, the one thing that I noticed is that it was just as polarizing as I thought it was going to be.  While I was watching the show, I was soon hit with the realization that some of the questions that I wanted answered simply were not going to be addressed.  The thing is, once the image of Jack's eyes closing passed and the series ended the way that I began, I was filled with a great sense of closure.  In fact, I would say that I was happy that they ended it this way, because in the end, what made this show so stellar were the human connections between the castaways.  The truths of the island were really immaterial and inconsequential in the large scope of things.

So many of the people that I have seen complaining about the ending seemed to want a detailed answer to a lot of questions, and I am not sure that anything that would have been worthy of watching would have been able to truly satisfy.  When I really sat there and thought about it, almost every question that I had was answered, and the ones that I still had were ones that I was happy to be left up to interpretation.  I am happy that the show is ending in good form, and it is not withering on the vine.  It was a fitful ending, and I look forward to watching the whole series in one go when the complete set comes out later this year.
