So Lost seems like the type of TV show I would enjoy, however I have the feeling that it might of been spoiled for me. I was perusing chanels one day and they were discussing the Lost final. and they played a clip from the final in which a voice over states
" So yeah did that just spoil lost for me, if I go in knowing that am I gonna know more than the characters. Was that the big twist? I need some lost fans to tell me if this show was spoiled for me or not...

No, you should be good. The show goes waaaaaay deeper than that.

I don't even think that is right. If you don't believe me then think about lost as more of a character heavy show(I did because I had most of season 1-3 spoiled ) , I find the characters way more interesting than what is happening on the island.

The island was definitely not built by the Dharma Initiative. They did build things, but definitely not the island. You are in the clear.

The island was not built by the Dharma Initiative.  That's flat out wrong.  Dharma had stations on the island, yes.  But that's the extent.

The only thing that spoiled that show was the last season. I recommend stopping at season 5, and imagining how it ends yourself.

Season 6 was a good/great season. It was only bad for me on how many times their was just a whole bunch of nothing and no progression, just stretching it out. It was a fine season that provided some answers, great scenes and a polarizing ending(that I loved).

A bad episode of Lost is still ways better then a good episode of any other drama.

I have to say, that Jacob MiB origin episode is worse than A LOT of dramas I could think of.  In fact, several shows were consistently better than Lost.

@Sarnecki:  Yeah, that is the only exception, that was the only bad episode

From Season 6 or in general? Because that one with Jack's flashbacks to Thailand and his tattoo was pretty bad.

Lost at it's best is a GREAT show, it's a truly unique emotional experience, and I'll always love it for that.  But it had lows, and it had them more often than other shows.  I'd argue both Supernatural and Breaking Bad are more consistently good, more consistently having amazing episodes.

@OneEyedNinja7: What I am saying is that Lost is consistitnyl great with very few missteps. Yes, Stranger in a Strange Land was a bad episode and yes Across the Sea was bad. Those are two episodes 3 seasons apart.

I am so, SO grateful to have Lost.  Don't be afraid to get into it, because almost every question IS answered.  Maybe the execution of some of those answers is what's lacking.

Either way, the first season of Lost is some of the most interesting, emotional, mysterious, warm and compelling television you could imagine.

you will love the series if youre in it for the characters dont listen to others that say the ending sucked because if youre in it for the characters its beautiful

I've had this argument countless times before.  Let me try and sum it up as best as I can.  It's a mystery character show.  If you wanted to make a character piece, don't put in temples or monsters or weird bizarre mysteries!    The two had to cross the finish line hand in hand, and instead Lost goes for a schmaltzy, cheesy ending.

You're fine. If it was not for LOST I would have never even think about watching 24, Breaking Bad, and Supernatural. All great shows in there own right.

The end stank a little because I think the writers had until the end of season six and there was no way to get everything done in one, shortened season. Season Six became a crap shoot that went all over the place and had little cohesion from episode to episode. Then, eventually, they got a small extension for the finale which allowed them some breathing room.

The idea's were great, the character study was a perfect example of great television. The execution of those ideas sucked and most people struggled with it, I loved every second although got very frustrated at times; although the writers went an extra step each season they often left the very feel of the show behind, open plot threads and character avenues opened up like a flood gate, they struggled to stem and eventually plug that hole in the final few seasons.

Supernatural is also a great show and Breaking Bad is on my list!

@Deathawk: As a whole LOST was amazing, though if you were just watching random episodes you would think us all mad. Watch from the start and get invested in the mystery before moving on to the frenetic middle and end.

@Sarnecki:
all of those mysteries help build the island as its own character. Sort of like how rapture is a character in Bioshock
