So I was looking around the interwebs as most of us are wont to do and stumbled over this nugget. Apparently in light of the new law in Arizona, super right wingers are labeling the new Rodriguez flick "Machete" as racist. Now wasnt that movie an expanded trailer from Gindhouse that was made 3 years ago? Asinine. People amaze the crap out of me.

People in Arizona who passed that bill have no fucking right to call something racist.

Especially since Machete is Rodriguez's way of addressing the sort of stereotyping people will do to Mexicans and is pretty much a satire.

This is just politicians knowing that did something wrong and sweating it out.

...You take infowars.com seriously?  I mean, have you heard Alex Jones' Y2K broadcast?

Not really.  Considering the fact that Machete is obviously not taking itself seriously, it would be foolish to consider it racism.

People need to learn about context.

The point Alex Jones is trying to make is that this film was created to instigate a race war between Mexican and Caucasian Americans.  Conspiracy insanity and fear mongering at its best.

Us film kids know That Planet Terror, Death Proof and Machete is simply a parody of grindhouse exploitation films that depicted gratuitous amounts of nudity, sex, violence and racial stereotypes.  I really don't think this is an issue outside of infowars.com and the minds of its denizens.

I think it's too awesome to be racist. Look at racist things from the past. KKK. Nazis. Your crazy gun-nut uncle. None of them are awesome. It's a trend.

Reason #1 Machete is not racist: Jessica Alba is in it. It is impossible to combine such evil with such good. Having Jessica Alba in a racist movie is like dividing by zero.

Reason #2:.. Is reason #1 somehow not good enough for you? What are you, a RACIST?!

Alex Jones is really having fun with this.  What a goddamn tool.

Also, has anyone who is criticizing this ever seen a fucking exploitation movie?!  LAWL

Rob Zombie tried to, but the Studios said it was too risky.

@damswedon: pathetic! He should have enough cash behind him by now to get it up on his own. Damn studios -_-

I must admit, while I do think the whole thing about Arizona is just topical happenstance rather than racism and I do understand its an exploitation movie, I am still weirded out by the rich, racist white guy archetype.
Machete Trailer

In case you were wondering, Danny Trejo is DEFINITELY the wrong Mexican to fuck with.
