As I am watching the third season of this stellar series, I am left wondering what the main focus of this season is.  The previous two seasons have had an overarching theme that it tried to portray, quite successfully so far, but I have yet to see what this season's them is.  In reading the description on the back of the blu-ray case, it seems that it may be about social/race reforms, but I have not seen too many hints of this.  It will be interesting to see which direction this show takes, and ultimately what the fourth season will bring to the table.  All I know is that this series has managed to bring a very fresh perspective to this era in our history.  It thankfully shies away from the cliche tropes that so many movies and shows lean onto, and gives us a glimpse into what motivations were behind these people.

I believe Season 4 starts the last week of July, but I'll agree that Mad Men is pure gold.  It's took me a few episodes to get into the show, but it's one of those rare drama's that just flat out works.

@MasterPr0phet:  I believe you are right about the when the new shows start.  I am almost halfway through Season 3, and while it is a slow burn so far, it is setting it up for some explosive things ot happen at the back end of the season.  I really love the characters in this series, as there is so much attention to detail poured into each one.

Yeah, I have to say that honestly the end of Season 3 is the most explosive (if you can call it that, it is a drama) ending to any season of that show.  It has made me highly anticipate the return of that show since it ended last November.

It feels like they are really building up the characters in a way that they will be cause some huge shifts in the show.  I know there were some actors leaving, so I am not sure if that has something to do with it.  I will have to get back to you when I finish the season, which should be sometime this weekend.  Then it is off to watching Rome.

@DrakeAsh: Yeah, end of season 3 is really well done and totally gets you pumped for 4. You made me remember to order season 3 actually, just got the Blu Ray and will dig through it again before 4 starts up.

What a great series.

The end of season 3 is great but that series felt like a slog compared to the other two fantastic ones. I think the main problem was the focus seemed to be on anything other than Sterling Cooper for most of the episodes and Betty Draper is a really unintereting character no matter what they do with her.

@Daniel:  I just finished Season 3 this morning, and you were all right.  I wanted to jump into Season 4 right away.  I have to agree with HandsomeDead, that the beginning of the season was quite a slow burn.  It did not seem to really get rolling until episode 5 or 6.  I am glad that they have decided to diverge the story from where they have been in the past three seasons.   This is the core team that I have enjoyed watching anyhow.  I miss Sal though, and I am wondering if he is going to make a reappearance next season.  I am not sure why he left the show to begin with.
