After Sucker Punch, how do you feel about the Superman movie?

Sucker Punch is getting universally panned so how do you feel this now reflects on the new Superman movie?  Can Snyder pull it off if he's just directing and not writing?  Does it fit his super stylised ways?  Superman's not my favourite character (I'm more of a Batman guy) but I was interested to see how it would turn out.  Now it seems it's tainted by Zucker Punch's awfulness.

I'm actually still a little interested in this. He's proven that he can make visually intriguing movies as long as he doesn't have to do any of the writing. The fact that Superman is supposedly going to be shot in documentary form seems just crazy enough to work.

Most of what I read sounds like "Superman for people who don't like Superman" which kind of defeats the purpose of adaptation. The IP has no value when you gut it of what its known for. When you put Superman in a dumbass GI Joe suit and put him in a mask so the alter ego makes sense with your caveman brain, its not Superman anymore. You wanna make a Spiderman movie, do it. Wanna make a Batman movie, do it. From what I've read, Snyder seems to want to make a fucking Robocop movie but with his boring ass quick-cut-slow-motion-quick-cut-ad-nosium editing.

With 300 being a simple story that already functioned as an action movie storyboard and Watchmen being something more subversive that Snyder totally missed the point of, I feel this is going to be more like the former adaptation and kind of enjoyable. At the same time, outside of 300, I am tired of Snyder's schtick so a huge portion of my interest relies on the casting. Amy Adams is a good start but after the talk of Jon Hamm and Viggo Mortensen going head to head, I cant help feeling Henry Cavill vs. whoever steps in next is going to be a letdown.

The only ray of hope is that Snyder is not producing this movie unlike Sucker Punch and Guardians of Ga'hoole.  Watchmen and 300 also had separate producers and writers, so maybe a competent producer can reign him in.  And, I have some confidence that DC won't allow him to stray from the Superman mythos.  Besides, he's got several to pick from looking back over the character's 70 years if he doesn't like the current one.   I have no confidence in Snyder, so I can only hope that stronger heads prevail in keeping this film on track.

I have some hope for this, I enjoyed Watchmen and as long as he doesn't pull a Sucker Punch I think it'll be fine.

I think it's good Snyder is taking a more down to earth direction, because I think with Sucker Punch he tried way too hard to make everything surreal and all that crazy stuff that it ended up not being what was awesome about that damn premise- Tried a bit too hard in the wrong places, and not enough in the right ones. So i consider doing this Superman film like a rehabilitation- getting back to his roots.
