So last week I asked everyone for their predictions on what Battleship would do at the box office and we all had some fun with it, in fact more than a few of us are thinking of restarting the Box Office Winners League. (More on that to come later) But for now let's speculate on another mystery movie coming out this weekend, Men in Black 3. Sure the first two were hits, but has it been too long for them to succeed again? Will the "Meh" of the second scare too many people away? Will they be able to overtake the Avengers?

Leave your predictions for how this movie will do this opening weekend below.

I think it will have a really good opening just for that fact that it's Will Smith (not from Tested.com). I don't think it will be able to overtake the Avenger's opening numbers, but it might be able to overtake it for the weekend. If it does it will be by a small margin (most likely).

As for predictions. I'm going to say MIB 3 rakes in a cool $40. Battleship was a big wakeup call but I don't see the people flocking to see another MIB especially with so many other movies getting marketing campaigns and ads. They all just drown one another out.

I would say 36 million to 40 million. I think that the fact that its the third installment might turn off people who didn't see the other installments in the franchise; 10 years is long time. Not only that, it's also been a while since people have seen Will Smith in a movie. I would say that 4 years is a while.

45 million seems like a reasonable assumption. Will Smith still prints money and Josh Brolin impersonating Tommy Lee Jones might intrigue older people.

So, since I was way, way off on Battleship, this is going to be a bit more conservative an estimate than last time.

I'm going for $47 million. It may knock The Avengers off, but it will be damn, damn close if it does.

By the by, I'm writing the opening week for the Box Office Winners League as I metaphorically speak! Expect it to pop up in the Forums (with all the rules and threads and stuff) on Wednesday! Yay! Right? I haven't ruined it for anyone by going ahead and just making it, have I?

I might be overshooting it but I'll say $57 million. I say it wins the weekend too.

Not at all, you're the one who got the idea started back up again in last week's forum and I was excited to see it. I've actually been wanting to ask if you were still planning on doing it so this is great news. I look forward to seeing your post on Wednesday.

As for me I'm going to guess 48 million for MIB3, and I'll say it will knock the Avengers out of the number one slot, but I think it will be close. I'll say the Avengers will end up making 42 million,

@obscurefan: Yay! Quick question: should it just be closest, or shall we institute Price Is Right rules (closest without going over)? Otherwise, I'm on it right now! I'm even drawing up a spreadsheet table for leaderboards and everything!

@jackanderson: I say go closest, but if you have to do a tie breaker (like two people guess the same distance from it, one over and one under) then whoever doesn't go over wins.

@obscurefan: Right. Finally, it'll run for 8 weeks but should I start new threads for each week or should I keep it all in one thread? I'm leaning towards the former.

@jackanderson: I'd go with the former as well, makes it easier for people to just jump right to the most current week.

MIB makes 43 million. Avengers falls to 28 million.

45 million opening and 450 million total worldwide.
