Brit-nerd superstar Simon Pegg is in the news today. Word is that he's in negotiations to come back on board as Benji Dunn for director Brad Bird's Mission Impossible 4.

The film is produced by J.J. Abrams, who also worked on the story with screenwriters Andre Nemec and Josh Appelbaum. Abrams directed the 3rd installment of the series, as well as last year's Star Trek, with Pegg in the role of Scotty, so this seems like their working relationship is continuing on.

It was reported last week that Tom Cruise is fully on board for the sequel, even if the studio isn't fully on board with him for it.  Seems the poor performance of Knight and Day may cause some adjustments in MI:4 land, with the most heavily rumored being the addition of a younger, more bankable star as a new agent for Cruise's Ethan Hunt to train (for future sequel installments). My money's on Zac Efron.

I actually love love loved  Star Trek and I hate hate hate the show.  I think it was done extremely well.  I you're a Trekkie then I can see where people would get mad at certain things because you're looking for things to nit-pick.  For people who are just familiar with Star Trek and saw the movie cuz it looked go in commercials shouldn't be disapointed, it was fun.  I didn't know Abrams made, but man did that movie just suck ass.  Cloverleaf had it's moments, but I think Abrams left to much to the actors in improve department and they didn't handle well enough.  All you kept hearing over and over was 'OH MY GOD!!" and "FUCK!" and it got annoying.  I don't know about you either, but I would have been like.  "Sorry dude, your girl friends screwed.  See you over the bridge."  But then we wouldn't have had a movie.  I'd like to see what they do with a sequel, just don't hush hush it, that back fired.

God damnit, way to say it. Now the studio is totally going to cast Efron.

Tom Cruise has been in this franchise for fucking 14 years.  I say give someone who's actually still got a career a shot.  Personally I wouldn't care at all if Tom Cruise never made another movie again...much like Mel Gibson although that is a much much more extreme case.

My money's on Shia Lebeouf as the new agent (sure hope not, though). First Mission Impossible was well done and iconic for the time, the other two were just ridiculous (mid-air motorcycle fights? Physics calculations on windows? "If you don't kill me, I'm going to die"?). Cruise has lost his appeal as an action star, but the guy can still act. Give him an interesting role like in Valkyrie or Tropic Thunder and I think people will watch him.

Cast Les Grossman.  He's bankable, isn't he?

I'd laugh so hard if it was Zac Efron.

Only Tom Cruise can be Ethan Hunt, just like only Matt Damon can be Jason Bourne.

I vote Joseph Gordon-Levitt! Please?

Still, more Simon Pegg is always a good thing. Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead are two of the best films...ever.

I didnt like Simon Pegg as Scotty I thought he did a poor job although I do like Simon Pegg and I thought Mission Impossible 3 was a terrible movie maybe not as bad as the second but I hope this is more like the first MI film.
