This lady has FIVE new movies out in theaters this year, SIX if you consider that Black Swan ran into the new year. Holy shit?! How the hell do you turn out so many god damned films in such a short amount of time?

Well, there's certainly a large disparity between the two actors quality wise...

Heavens no, Natalie Portman is an actual actor.

Your Highness wrapped up filming in 2009, Hesher premiered at sundance in 2010. So there's 2 movies out of the way.

I'd say no, as the movies she is in that are coming out in droves are quite varied- Hesher, Your Highness, The Other Woman, Thor, and etc. very, very different films, though her characters might be the standard love interest or whatever. Each, it seems, have their own uniqueness to them, Hesher being a more damaged one, Your Highness a strong one, and so forth.

So yeah. No, because Heigl, unlike Portman, hasn't really changed her character in the slightest bit over the past few years.

I'd have to say no; I really can't say I can recall Katherine Heigl being in anything good.  Well, "Knocked Up" was pretty good for what it was, but at the same time, I didn't really like her character in that movie, either.  So no.

Also, Katherine Heigl can't do this:

Katherine Heigl really hasn't been in that many movies.  I think someone saw an Onion news report and thought its humor was real (well, inspired by true events).   She wasn't even on anyone's radar before Knocked Up (2007), which was followed up by 27 Dresses (2008), The Ugly Truth (2009), Killers (2010) and Life As We Know It (2010).  It might feel like a lot all at once because all her movies since Knocked Up have been stupid romantic comedies. I love a good rom-com, but her's are not up to par.

Michael Caine is probably a closer analogy.  In 1986, he was in 5 movies. In 1987, 3 more.  He said back then that he was from the school that said an actor should be working all the time, not lying on the couch waiting for "good" scripts to arrive.  Always keep working and the good stuff will appear in due course.  That's why his filmography is so large (over 100 film & TV roles).  If Portman follows that direction, I support her endeavor.  If she has good instincts and chooses a variety of roles in diverse genres, then whether or not she stars in 5 films this year won't matter because they'll be 5 different movies.

Plenty of actors do a ton of shitty movies. We don't talk about the 10 awful movies Sam Jackson does a year, we talk about how he totally carried Sunset Limited. Same with Natalie. We ignore the shit (and there's a lot) because occasionally she delivers.

I know that Natalie Portman must be a good actress but I never want to watch her movies.  There's something about her, I can't connect with her characters.  It's probably a good thing if she has to take time off having the baby.

Katherine Heigel is piss poor and Portman is not.

Hell no!
Heigl has never, and will never, have the "Black Swan" performance that Portman had. Katherine Heigl will never win an Oscar. Never, never, never, never. Also, Heigl is in mostly romantic comedies, while Portman seems to be doing a bunch of other stuff. Not all of it seems good (Your Highness), but I don't think she will ever stoop to the level of Katherine Heigl. Also, Natalie Portman is attractive and Katherine Heigl is not.

I see the comparison but nor if anything I would of said she is the new Jude Law from a couple years ago prior to the nanny gate

Besides Portman can act decently when she needs to while Heigl is annoying as hell and just makes crap rom coms Knockout excluded

I would have said the same about Sandra Bullock, though. Life is long and disappointing, don't count Heigl out.

In terms of volume, yes, but you can't discount Black Swan.
