In a post-apocalyptic future large areas of the world have been made uninhabitable by growing forests of poisonous fungi. The people that live close to the forests are attempting to stop the spread along with their spiritual leader Nausicaa. But an aggressive military force threatens to undo their progress.

Trivia:

Originally released in the US as Warriors of the Wind in 1985. This version was cut, heavily, to get a faster pace and lacked several key plotpoints including the underlying environmental message. Hayao Miyazaki has distanced himself from this cut and the studio adopted a strict "no edits" clause for foreign releases of its films. The movie was re-released in 2005 by Disney with new voice actors completely uncut.
