Canadian Netflix

I used to live in the states but recently was forced to move home to canada. I was pleasantly surprised to see that netflix had recently expanded it's operation north of the border.

It's not surprising to me that the amount of content on the canadian nf pales in comparison to it's older brother's. Licensing content internationally is tricky, and it's going to take time for them to expand their library. What is baffling, however, is the lack of certain key features, namely, the Instant Streaming Cue. There's no way to mark and set aside films you want to watch for later. How hard is it to effectively integrate a 'bookmarking' system into your website!?

I'm glad it's available here, but this seems like a huge oversight.

@remaininlight: how do you like canada?

@remaininlight:
Agreed. I find myself hardly using the service because there's no way to save something for later viewing. Occasionally, I'll flip through the new releases or something and notice a few things I'd like to watch, but I guess I'm just supposed to remember the items and look them up manually when I get around to it.

How they don't see that having a list I can pull up when I'm bored and pick something from as well as save items to is a useful feature is absolutely beyond me. And they expect us to pay the same amount as their American customers for a severally gimped service with a fraction of the content. It's insulting, actually.

Canada's great. However, from a tech standpoint, it can be frustrating (see above Netflix rant). We also don't always get the latest technology at the same time (especially cellphones), we don't have access to services like Hulu, Amazon is severally gimped compared to the American counterpart (although it's slowly improving with more and more items being available), and our political system is a mess.

But can't argue with drastically less crime, less racism, cleaner cities, closer proximity to nature and outdoorsy stuff, nice, better educational system, and you can't forget about free healthcare.

Also, if you are so inclined, prostitution is legal, marijuana is cheap and readily available (and the laws surrounding it are pretty slack compared to the US), you can drink at 19 or even 18 in many places, technically downloading music and television shows is legal (or it's a heck of a lot grayer than in the US), etc.

Also, gay marriage and abortion is legal everywhere.

True say. I tried buying my mom a cell phone when i came home for christmas one year, and I can't believe how buttfuck retarded cellphone retailers are here. They charge for basic shit like caller ID and the cell tower placement isn't nearly comprehensive enough. There's no reason why canada should lag behind in so many tech sectors. It's really frustrating after having been in the US so long. Gotta say though, that's pretty much the only part of the states I'm missing at the moment.
