Its' clear that Reed Hastings really has no idea what he's doing. This company needs someone that has a clear vision of its future and sticks to it, not some reactionary dweeb who changes his mind every month.

I must agree. Nothing pisses off comfortable customers more than change, and it doesn't always matter if it's positive or negative. Just ask Facebook. Anyway, I should really sign up for Netflix. Need something to do during another cold Chicago winter.

Facebook is a good comparison: most of their changes are similarly terrible with a touch of goodness. GIVE ME BACK MY CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER YOU BASTARDS.

And also my DVDs.

IF Reed Hastings HAD said, "we're making another company called, "Qwikster" that'll handle dvd+video game disk rentals, and you will have a shared account if you opt too. AND we're LOWERING THE PRICE OF STREAMING on Netflix" people would've said he was a business genius and shit their pants, instead he looks short sighted and reactionary. :-/

I love companies being somewhat transparent, but I think we have just seen one of the first cases in a long time of them being a little too transparent and/or rash. Like ScanCase more or less summed up, Netflix as a whole does not know what its doing. I even think that the price hikes have gotten a lot of people to jump ship.. that and the fact that they have just started inevitably been bleeding content left and right due to them letting deals die on the table with content holders due to the content holders themselves demanding crazy increases in magnitude from what they were asking for just a year or two ago due to the rise of streaming popularity.

Well, this is a hard one for them to come out looking good from. Considering the issue of securing licensing, going back and forth on branding like this is maybe not an indicator of stability and reliability, but on the other hand the split was pretty dumb to begin with, so they should at least benefit from that.

I need to know about the games, man. The games! That was the only thing that really interested me in this whole debacle. I better get another email for Hastings telling me that that's still coming (oh, and here's a free month for not cancelling through all this madness.)

Smart move by Netflix, the name Quikster never resonated anyways.

Just as long as streaming still exits and the library continues to grow, I'm fine. But man, things are messy.

If they do go along with the videogame thing, I'd subscribe for disks again. I certainly wouldn't hate paying $10 a month to have access to new console games whenever. I don't usually play the multiplayer stuff either, so project $10 is irrelevant to me.

It would be a shame if they opted out of doing video game rentals. Knowing that actually makes me want to join Netflix. I don't want to pay two monthly service sites for those two rental options. That's why I wont join either.

They'll probably bail on the game rentals. Another example of how Qwikster and Netflix would have been better as distinct services. Too bad everyone freaked out about the miniscule inconvenience of needing to go to a second site. We could have had an appreciably better streaming catalog, no more delay on new release DVD rentals and more value adds like a gaming upgrade. But people are stupid. Thanks.

Qwikster is in it for the long haul.

Really dumb idea in the first place.

Don't worry, next week Netflix will announce they are changing the name of both companies to QwikFlix. Just to cause even more confusion.

I still think that splitting the IP would've been the best thing for them business-wise, as it meant that they could sift out the royalties on stuff properly, thereby bringing more savings down the line to the consumers themselves because of it while also phasing out their physical media department and finally forcing the world to enter THE 21ST FUCKING CENTURY!

Netflix seems like a very human company with all these flailings and wailings
