2010 Razzie Award Nominations Revealed!

The OTHER big nominations announcement of the week.

 DURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
 DURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Ah, the Razzies. As the preeminent deflator of celebrity ego-balloons, they're only perhaps matched by OK!'s decision to run makeup-less photos of every female star they can get their hands on (the photos, not the stars). That said, they're also something of a Hollywood institution, having been running for almost 30 years now, and celebrate the worst artistic achievements of the Hollywood system for the year. Traditionally, their nominations are announced a day before the Oscar nominations come down, and their awards ceremony is likewise scheduled for a day before the Oscar telecast. Since Oscar noms are due tomorrow morning, today the list of Razzie nominations were released.

As you might imagine, The Last Airbender leads the way with nine nominations, a number that's shared by Twilight: Eclipse, perhaps a bit unfairly (it's bad, sure, but nowhere near as awful as some other movies released this year, and I'm not sure how you can nominate it for Worst Picture over something like, say, Jonah Hex or Resident Evil: Afterlife). Curiously absent are films like Furry Vengeance and Grown Ups, but again, these awards are generally aimed at the biggest targets out there. Click the link for the full nominations!

I will watch all of these movie.

The Nutcracker 3D is in the worst 3D nominations part, though I would agree that the nominations in general are a bit repetitive.

Man, it's sad to see Katherine Heigl snubbed this year. She must be really sad to not get a nomination.

Frankly, my good, sir, I don't give a rat's ass.
Mushiron Jan. 24, 2011 at 11:12 a.m.
While The Expendables wasn't that well directed, I don't believe that Stallone deserves to be on that list, especially looking at the other nominees in the same category. I haven't seen any of the other movies that are nominated so I can't really comment on them. I don't really have any plans to watch any of them either.

I'm sure this list will really piss off Twilight fans. I look forward to tear-soaked YouTube videos.
Flap_jacksonon Jan. 24, 2011 at 11:13 a.m.
Consider this: Twilight has never won a major Razzie award. Or any Razzie award that I know of. This must change. Or we can just wait until the PG-13 train wreak that is Break Dawn Pt. 2 comes out, then just nominate them in every category, and let them sweep.

While all the Worst Picture nominees are especially atrocious, The Last Airbender may have driven the stake through low-rent, 11th hour 3D, in addition to MNS's directorial career.
Rayethon Jan. 24, 2011 at 11:15 a.m.
@Mushir: Expendables was throughly enjoyable compared to everything on this list which is painful to even look at.

You sir, are crazy.

Either way, I think Vampires Suck, just based on the things I've heard, is the worst movie of the year. I would not dare watch it.
Rorie staff on Jan. 24, 2011 at 11:17 a.m.
@flap_jackson:  Well, those movies are bad, but they're well-made, at least. They're not incompetent on the level of a Last Airbender.
DonChipotleon Jan. 24, 2011 at 11:18 a.m.
To be totally fair to Pattinson, I don't think it is fair to have him up for Worst Actor for Remember Me. Twilight? Eh, maybe.

The Razzies always make me smile

Sylvester Stallone doesn´t deserve to be on this list!
Deathpookyon Jan. 24, 2011 at 11:24 a.m.
Based on negative buzz alone, I'd have to say Sex and the City 2 and Avatar are the front-runners. And from those I'd probably pick Sex and the City, which is supposed to be offensively awful to the point of making you want to kill everyone in it and then yourself, as opposed to Avatar, which is just a terrible movie that misused 3-D and a TV series.

M. Night definitely deserves Worst Director though.
welshguyon Jan. 24, 2011 at 11:25 a.m.
Okay, Expendables wasn't high art but by God it did allow me to see Dolph Lundgren, The Stath, Stallone et all actually on the big screen. I have never seen Jet Li or the Stath on the big screen because I'm far too cheap and have very little free time to go to the cinema so I have to very picky about what I see. And the last time I saw Dolph Lundgren on the big screen was in He-Man so many years ago. Stallone I think I last saw in Judge Dredd (which I liked dammit). Seeing all those guys together was awesome and it reminded me of all the crap but awesome 80's action movies. In no way should Stallone be up for worst director.

True, but M. Night won for Lady In The Water. We already knew his movies were bad. Twilight 1 & 2 were actually entertaining on some level. Eclipse had none of that entertainment. Plus, David Slade is probably the most talented director to touch the series, yet he made the worst entry.
inferioregoon Jan. 24, 2011 at 11:27 a.m.
On my way to the Big Big Live Live Show Show, they played Bounty Hunter on the flight. I tried hard to watch it, but it wasn't even funny-bad. It was the worst thing I've seen in a long while, next to Fockers III: Terror at Focker Mountain

That caption for the image at the top was perfectly stupid. I totally cracked up.
