About 12 Years Too Late, Dilbert To Come To Screen

I liked it better when it was called That Other Comedy About A Wacky Office.

Pajiba is reporting that Ken Kwapis is coming on board to direct a live-action Dilbert movie, to be produced by Tariq Jalil, who's also responsible for the upcoming movie Marmaduke, which itself seems poised to melt our faces Raiders of the Lost Ark-style. So, uh, Dilbert, huh? I guess it's still kind of funny; at the very least it probably makes Scott Adams a few dozen million a year in merchandising. But I can't help but feel that a Dilbert movie would be kind of irrelevant after Office Space and The Office and Parks And Recreation and any number of other forms of visual entertainment about wacky offices and quirky bosses, etc., etc. I'd love to be wrong, but still... Marmaduke.

I'm going to laugh my ass off is Marmaduke is at all good

There was already a Dilbert TV show, and that wasn't so great. I have almost hope for this. Dilbert is at its best when it gets semi-surreal. How will that transfer into a live-action movie without looking completely cheesy?

Finally, the role Drew Carey was born to play.

It's funny, because this is exactly what I was thinking. I've only seen the odd dilbert comic I find thumbtacked to an office cubicle or taped to a business department door, but everytime I do see one the first thing for some inexplicable reason that pops into my head is "Damn, Drew Carey could totally be that guy."

LIVE ACTION?! NO. STOP. WRONG. DO NOT RUIN DILBERT LIKE THAT. I loved the Animated Show. This will RUIN it.

@Rorie: dear.....god.......no........ they can not rape my favourite cartoon like that noooooo

I liked the animated show that ran for a while, but I can't say I have high hopes for a movie. I mean what can it do that Office Space and The Office haven not already done supremely well.

Can't wait! (to not see it).

Live action Dilbert? What is this nonsense?
HydraHamon May 26, 2010 at 3:13 p.m.
You can never be too late with something as amazing as this, if done right this could exceed office space and be one of the best comedies ever, but will it? no, hollywood will fuck it up.
Snailon May 26, 2010 at 3:27 p.m.
Fuck Hollywood.

Just. God. There are no words for this.

Hm, I figure with animated shorts available through podcasts that it would be a vehicle for an animated movie, guess they went the live action route. Hello Garfield the movie >_>

Of all the bad ideas ever this has to be one of the worst.  I mean who does this movie appeal to, I don't see adults, teenagers or kids getting hyped for a live action Dilbert movie.

@Alex:  I'd absolutely see that if they just gave Diedrich Bader the role of Ratbert
