Our worst nightmares have manifested. Angry Birds, the simplistic and popular mobile game, now has its film distribution rights purchased by Sony Pictures. Despite just buying these rights they already have a release date of July 1st, 2016. The 3D animated film will be produced by Joel Cohen, producer Despicable Me, and David Maisel, executive producer of Iron Man, which gives it some hope of being good. I just don't know what a movie based on a downloadable game would even be about. How can you make a movie about birds being angry at pigs last for a full hour and a half and be interesting? Maybe time will tell and this will turn out to be good, but I'm not expecting much from this.
