Anyone who went to go see Wreck-It-Ralph was treated to this animated short that played before the movie. I just came across it on the internet and I think my heart melted. My favorite thing about it is that it is a simple story that is so emotional and sweet, yet not a single word is spoken. It really reminded me of the power of storytelling in film and was one of those moments that made me fall in love with the medium all over again.
The short was directed by John Kahrs and was nominated for an Academy Award in the Short Film category this year. It also is important as it employs a new animation technique that blends the traditional hand-drawn style with computer animation. If this is the future of animation, sign me up.
Excuse me now while I got make some paper airplanes and ball my eyes out.

Well that was the definition of cute.
I love the art-style. It has a certain charm and warmth to it but the music felt a little out of place to me. A little too modern for the film-noir look of the piece. Still very enjoyable though.
This just melts my damn heart
You should look up the how-it's-made on this animation. It's actually made in 3d and re-rendered flat. That's what gives the motion such a fluid...motion.
The best part of watching Wreck-it-Ralph.
That was heart-warmingly beautiful.
I wish fate could lead me to someone I love, but sadly, Morgan Freeman said it best "this aint no fairy tale world"
This was pretty awesome. I really liked what they did with the animation.
Cute. Hopefully it will be on the Wreck it Ralph Bluray.
I kinda wish it didn't have as much of a "fairy tale magic" element at the end, but whatever. It was still beautiful and really well done.
that was lovely.
