Anti-Productivity: SNL Does Unstoppable

Ok, this made me laugh.

I am unapologetically in the camp of SNL haters, unfortunately. I tried my best to sit through the Emma Stone episode a few weeks back, but simply couldn't make it. I'm not sure what's going on over in their writing room, but when stuff as painfully unfunny as Gilly makes it to air, I start thinking more seriously about how long this show has to live.

That said, this Digital Short parody of the Unstoppable trailer made me laugh a bit. Enjoy!

Once in a while SNL will have something that works, but mostly......it sucks. Bad.
Levioon Nov. 16, 2010 at 3:05 p.m.
Hulu has started letting you skip straight to certain skits, which has helped me greatly.  It's crazy how easy it is to tell which skits will be good (or not) based on the title/picture alone.
Flap_jacksonon Nov. 16, 2010 at 3:07 p.m.
They should just stick to impressions and pre-taped stuff.

But yeah, Jay Pharoah, the black guy, does AMAZING impressions. I hope he sticks around for a while.

EDIT: So not worth the trip.

It pains me that SNL is so horrifically bad these days. Prior to about Will Ferrell's departure, I watched the show religiously live AND in reruns on Comedy Central or whatever.

VH1 has recently been airing some older stuff from the 90s, and those skits are light years beyond anything currently on SNL (aside from the Digital Shorts, which are usually pretty good). Bummer.
GhostNPCon Nov. 16, 2010 at 3:19 p.m.
Oh great, Hulu and their anti-international stance. Oh well, I doubt anything SNL could peak a laugh, even something uncharacteristically great.
mbkishon Nov. 16, 2010 at 3:24 p.m.
Yeah, even with one of the hottest actresses as the host, Scarlet Johanson, I still ended up turning this week's off before it was over. It is horribly bad, like MadTV got near the end of its run.
DXmagmaon Nov. 16, 2010 at 3:24 p.m.
i guess i'm in the minority here but i genuinely love SNL, even the new stuff.
SCOOTMAN09on Nov. 16, 2010 at 3:32 p.m.
I agree most SNL skits end up horrible, but I will never become a SNL hater. That said people like Jay Pharoah, Bill Hader, and Andy Samberg are mostly the most entertaining parts of the show.

It's not that this shit isn't funny, I makes me cringe in all sorts of pain and agony whenever I attempt to watch one. It's the kind of material that even a seasoned comedian can't do shit with.
mylifeforAiuron Nov. 16, 2010 at 3:41 p.m.
Apparently I can't watch it. Damn you Americans! Whatever , no Adam Sandler- no sale!
SquirrelGODon Nov. 16, 2010 at 3:44 p.m.
Does SNL have it's low points?  Yes.  Is it in a bit of a slump right now?  Definitely.  Should it EVER be compared to fucking MADTV?  FUCK NO.  Anyone who does is a goddamn moron who never actually saw that abomination of "Comedy".
cooljammer00on Nov. 16, 2010 at 3:58 p.m.
"How long this show has to live"?  I'd say it's about a decade too late for that.

It will live forever, especially since its mediocre election coverage gave it a resurgence in the pop culture consciousness
Redon Nov. 16, 2010 at 4:01 p.m.
SNL's pretty up and down, but this was actually pretty funny.
Pudgeon Nov. 16, 2010 at 5:47 p.m.
I was reading this post on Google Reader, and I had to open up the website, scroll to the bottom of the page, and open this box to type out to you Matt Rorie. That skit you linked to was probably one of the most unbearably horrible things I've ever seen. I weep for anyone who thinks that is enjoyable.

SNL is as bad as the chrysler building.

And the funny thing is that the white dood in this skit was on Mad TV.

This guy does a good Denzel Washington impression...they have already used him TWICE for it in what...the last 2 episodes alone?  Does he do anything else....that appears to be all he is used for.  I watched most of last weekend's episode...I really don't remember any of it.  Andy Samberg did one of his musical skits but it wasn't funny.
Godlyawesomeguyon Nov. 16, 2010 at 6:09 p.m.
Not a bad skit, in fact it was pretty funny. SNL as a whole, however, isn't good at all anymore. Even the audience dosen't find it funny, since I only hear chuckles occasionally when I watch.
DostoyevskysShamblingCorpseon Nov. 16, 2010 at 6:24 p.m.
I've been a pretty big defender of SNL the past few years, but they've been really unfunny lately. Kanye's performance was the best thing to happen this season, except maybe Ernest Borgnine on 'What's Up With That'. ooooooohhhhweeeeeeeee!

Also, I'm surprised people like Unstoppable.
Example1013on Nov. 16, 2010 at 6:30 p.m.
I simply don't understand how people find SNL funny. I don't hate it, I just don't understand how you can laugh at it, either. It's painfully unfunny, just like every other late night show. Especially Leno. How the guy's managed to stay on TV is beyond me, since I could probably do better jokes. Or at least the same quality.
