Anti-Productivity: "We Are the World" Gets Shot With a Comedy Death Ray

And now, a holiday message from Kurt Russell.

It's hard to believe that it's been 25.75 years since the original "We Are the World" burned up the charts in the name of charity. That seems like just about enough time before a new rendition would come around, and good lord almighty, this might just be the definitive one.

The good folks over at Comedy Death Ray have produced a new version of the song featuring the comedic talents of Paul F. Tompkins, Sarah Silverman, Thomas Lennon, Maria Bamford, Weird Al, Kevin Nealon, Paul Scheer, Aimee Mann, and more importantly than any of those people combined, KURT RUSSELL. My god how exciting is that?

This song is basically a promotion for Comedy Death Ray's 9th Annual Christmas Nativity Pageant, which takes place on December 14th at the UCB Theater in Los Angeles. All the proceeds from that show will go to the LA Regional Food Bank, so hey, comedy and charity! Two great tastes that taste great together!

Even if you're not in LA and can't go to the show, this video is awful funny. It's long, but it's also the Monday after a holiday weekend, so let's face it: You're not getting any work done today.

Autotuned Weird Al. We've reached the endgame, folks.

LiquidSwordson Nov. 29, 2010 at 1:20 p.m.
That was awesome! I remember seeing the Melvins and  Neil Hamburger opened up. I thought the crowd was going to kill him because he was talking so much shit at the audience! Good times!
Martin_Blankon Nov. 29, 2010 at 1:24 p.m.
That was about eight minutes too long.

Needed a lot more Bob Ducca.
Bigrhynoon Nov. 29, 2010 at 1:28 p.m.
Pretty good, but I liked last year's better.

Kurt Russel was mostly awesome, Weird Al's parts were kinda funny, the rap parts were a little funny.  There were flashes of near brilliance in the video, but most of it was pretty lame.

The opening part where Kurt said, "...but food is the best food," was kinda dumb too.

I liked it. Don't see what all the hate is about.
Snailon Nov. 29, 2010 at 3:26 p.m.
Haters can go fuck themselves: that was hillarious.

I didn't really laugh... felt like a bad SNL skit.

edit: Regular SNL skit...
