Are These Skrulls In The Latest Footage From The Avengers?

The first new footage of The Avengers to come along in a while also gives us our first glimpse of their extraterrestrial enemies.

Alright, so that is just a teaser for the longer teaser for The Avengers that'll be shown during the Super Bowl this Sunday. As it's just a few seconds long, there isn't much to it, although you do get a split-second, blurry glimpse of what they might as well go ahead and admit are Skrulls:

In slightly less-anticipated news, here's a Super Bowl teaser teaser for Disney's John Carter:

In addition to the films above, there are also reportedly going to be something like four different spots for Act Of Valor, and I'd be surprised if The Amazing Spider-Man and other summer tentpoles don't get in on the action. It's an expensive proposition, advertising in the Super Bowl, but a $2 or $4 million advertisement is still just a drop in the bucket compared to the overall advertising budgets for most of these films.

I don't know.

Yay! I got the Quest.

BenBon Jan. 31, 2012 at 12:07 p.m.

I think the first hoverjet/space fighter/whatever was being driven by Loki

RockinKemosabeon Jan. 31, 2012 at 12:07 p.m.

I find all these teasers for a TV spot quite disconcerting, even if it's for the Super Bowl.

There are only a few alien races in the Marvel Universe that Marvel Studios has the rights to so this secret alien race has to got to be the Skrulls, their Ultimate Universe Counterpart the Chitauri, or the Kree. Most likely it's the Skrulls. Also I can't wait for John Carter.

MrMazzon Jan. 31, 2012 at 12:12 p.m.

IF not the Skrull could be the Kree or the Chitauri

Mr_skeletonon Jan. 31, 2012 at 12:38 p.m.

"Where am I?"

"You're John Carter of Earth?"

"Yes."

Credits.

There are without a doubt aliens in The Avengers, but Kevin Feige swears up and down that they are not the Skrulls.

Avengers is gonna live or die by it's villains.

sunalsoon Jan. 31, 2012 at 12:47 p.m.

Somehow I don't think the Super Bowel is going to save John Carter

jackandersonon Jan. 31, 2012 at 12:54 p.m.

Hype, motherf*ckers!

nikmonroeon Jan. 31, 2012 at 1 p.m.

Kevin Fiege has said that they're not the Skrull but they are a pre-existing alien race from the Avengers universe.

@Mr_skeleton: For some reason reading your comment then watching the actual trailer made me laugh out loud. Well done

Yeah, I have the feeling that movie is going to flop hardcore.

I can't wait for the Avengers. Admittedly, I don't know much about the Marvel Universe. I haven't been much into comics until the New 52 which solved the critical problem of not knowing where to start. Hopefully I'll find a good jumping off point for Marvel soon, but I haven't yet. However, Joss Whedon can do no wrong for me, so I'm looking forward to this movie quite a bit.

Can we just go ahead and say that The Avengers is going to be underwhelming?

snake_runneron Jan. 31, 2012 at 2:40 p.m.

I can't believe they blew up the Dr. Pepper truck (0:05)! Those monsters!

cooljammer00on Jan. 31, 2012 at 2:42 p.m.

John Carter will always just be Noah Wyle to me.

jakob187on Jan. 31, 2012 at 4:21 p.m.

Feige has gone on record before this and said that they are not Skrulls. Whether that's misdirection or not is anyone's guess.

However, if I had to make a wild guess, it's going to be Centauris. I doubt they'd bring the Kree in, as they are a race that is focused on more in X-Men if I remember correctly.

Hey guys, trailers are getting trailers.
