Captain America Sequel Release Date Announced

The two year wait for the next Captain America movie is official.

I watched the first Captain America: The First Avenger on a 5 hour plane ride coming home from New York with one eye half open. I wasn't overwhelmed by the movie, but I do remember liking Chris Evans more than I expected, and feeling like that was a pretty solid casting choice.

Now on April 4, 2014 I will have a second chance to support the pro-American shield-wielding superhero as Walt Disney Studios announced the release date of the Captain America sequel. The sequel will pick up where Marvel's The Avengers leaves off, meaning that Mr. Rogers (no, not that one, the other one) will still be spending time with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D.

I know that I really should give this franchise a better shot than it got on a tiny airplane screen, and I'm sure that by the time the sequel comes out I will be ready to commit to a theater grade viewing. Assuming, that is, that Marvel doesn't overexpose the Avengers franchises and extensions to exhaustion by then.

I loved Captain America. I'm excited for the sequel. Though, I don't think Johnston is coming back to direct, which is a bit of a bummer for me.

Dig Deeper into Captain America: The First Avenger

Captain America: The First Avenger focuses on the early days of the Marvel Comics universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. In the film, he battles against the evil Red Skull & his organization, HYDRA.
