Update: If you want a bit more check out this post over on our friends at Tested.
For someone like me watching Youtube, Netflix, or other online only videos isn't too difficult. I have multiple devices sitting in my room with the ability to access any number of these streaming services. And I suspect most of you already have at least one or two ways in which you access your online streaming world. But for some people purchasing an Xbox 360 or new Blu-Ray player just to access videos online isn't worth the money.
Google seeks to simplify this streaming world and provide a relatively cheap answer for those of you still out in the cold. The Chromecast is a $35 USB dongle that plugs directly into your TV through an open HDMI port. Connecting through Wi-Fi the dongle will give you access to Youtube, Netflix, Google Play, and eventually Pandora. This may not be revolutionary but it is an interesting, and to my knowledge, the cheapest way to gain access to the online streaming videos we all love.
You can purchase the device today and will be in stores by the end of the month. Or just purchase a Roku if you honestly can't wait.
