Comcast is reportedly ready to outbid Charter Communications to purchase Time Warner Cable and become absolutely behemoth. This purchase would give Comcast markets further into the east coast including in New York and Boston. Now Comcast's lackluster service and pricing is available from coast to coast for all to suffer from. The purchase would be for about $44 billion in an exchange of stock.
The previous bid my Charter was seen as inadequate after they offered $37 billion but this bid is pretty much locked in. This turns Comcast into a sure fire target for regulators now that they'll go from 21 million subscribers to something like 33 million subscribers. The closest competitor would be Verizon at 4.7 million.
