Long time cast member Donald Glover, who plays Troy Barnes on the show, will be reducing his role for the show's fifth and more than likely final season. This is all according to some of Glover's representatives and some Sony producers who work on the show saying that a deal has been worked out where Glover will only appear in 5 of the upcoming 13 episode season. While Sony, NBC, nor Glover have commented on the absence the general consensus seems to be that Glover wants time off to focus on his music. The agreement is mutual since now Glover won't have to be paid for the 8 or so episodes he won't be in which I'm sure Sony won't mind keeping.
Seems strange to want to back out of a project and show you love so much. Maybe Glover, like most of us, really didn't expect the show to still be chugging along. Childish Gambino, Glover's musician name, last released an album in 2010 which does make a new album a bit overdue.
What do you think about the deal? Is Glover being selfish for leaving or is he just trying to focus on all aspects of his career? What does this mean for Abed?
