Danny Trejo Going Skinny Dipping With Michelle Rodriguez

Since these two usually play the perennially pissed off, will this be the most angry film ever?

The L.A. Times' 24 Frames blog (via Cinematical) sat down with Danny Trejo recently to discuss his first foray into action hero superstardom with Machete, opening Friday. The bulk of that story seems to be under embargo until later in the week, but a handful of ancillary details about what lies ahead for Trejo did emerge. Although the man was mum on details concerning when it would occur, Trejo says that he's planning to pair up with eye patched Machete co-star Michelle Rodriguez for Frankie Latina's new indie film, Skinny Dip. Setting aside the obvious images that brings to mind of this veritable beauty and the beast in the buff, bathing, the movie will be about a woman who kills a police officer and is set to be produced, maybe even co-directed, by Trejo's 22-year-old son, Gilbert.

With the related trio of the father/son Trejo pair plus second cousin Robert Rodriguez it occurs to me that we may be seeing the emergence of the first Mexican-American cinema family to rival the likes of the Coppola and Sheen/Estevez families--only about a thousand times more cartoonishly violent and fun. Most of all, I'm intensely jealous of the young Gilbert, who grew up on the sets of his father's multitude of action schlock. I mean, it's entirely possible the kid learned to walk while his father was shooting Maniac Cop 2 and said his first words on the Burbank soundstage of Whore. No fair...

Ok now that's just weird.  Imagine if he there is a sex scene and he has to direct his dad in it.

I'm interested to see how well (or not) this movie does at the box office.  I know I'll be watching this on opening weekend, but I have a sinking feeling that this movie won't do terribly well with the suburban-white-American demographic.

This is my most anticipated movie of the year, then again I like this sort of movie so yeah.

Given that the film it sprang from, Grindhouse, was a huge box-office disappointment, I'd be surprised if this fares any better.  Heck, I'm surprised it even got made.  Damn glad it did, though!  Danny Trejo is the man.

I hope this film fairs better than Grindhouse at the box office. My heart is still recovering from that Grindhouse bomb.

Every time I see the trailer I always think it looks really good.  i wont go and see it in theaters but hopefully it will be worth the money to rent it.

Guess now really is the time of Trejo. Hope he rides it for all it's worth.
