Daredevil Reboot Following Born Again Storyline?

Frank Miller's epic story arc possibly to come to the big screen.

Is this iconic or what?
Is this iconic or what?

Following Frank Miller is precisely like having that friend who's brilliant and smart and funny and occasionally so incredibly wrong about something that you have a hard time believing what he's saying. I mean, this is the guy behind The Dark Knight Returns and 300 and Sin City, but then he's also the guy who made The Dark Knight Strikes Again and the weirdness that was the film version of The Spirit. He's perhaps best remembered for the story arcs that he helped created in the 1980s, which include Batman: Year One with David Mazzucchelli (which is now being made into an animated film) and Daredevil: Born Again, also with Mazzucchelli. In what we can only hope bodes well for the franchise, it looks like the forthcoming Daredevil franchise reboot might actually wind up being an adaptation of Born Again.

That's what The Hollywood Reporter is saying, at any rate, reporting that Fox has hired Brad Caleb Kane, a writer and producer for Fringe, to write the script for their planned reboot/sequel/whatever. If you haven't read Born Again, quit your job, shut off the internet, go find a comic book shop, and come back in a couple hours when you're done with it. It's a hell of a story, involving The Kingpin discovering Matt Murdock's secret identity and using that information to wreck his life, with a few moments of genuine pathos and, of course, Miller-esque over-the-topness.

Of course, it's not all good news: Kane's only produced feature was the dire Brooklyn's Finest, but he's apparently got a reputation around town for writing good scripts, so we'll give him a mulligan this time around. The feature doesn't have a director or a star yet, so things could still shift around. Assuming that Ben Affleck would be too expensive to bring back, who would you want to see don the red suit? I'll go left field and say: Justin Timberlake.

For once I'm not familiar with the source material but since it's Frank Miller it is most likely very good as the guy basically reinvented Daredevil. Justin Timberlake isn't bad choice, wouldn't have thought of him immediately but he might be able to pull it off.

No more Daredevil please.

Damon dodged a bullet by passing on the character/film.

Please no Ben Afflick. Was recently thinking of superhero movies and I couldn't even remember the name of this movie/super hero, Bullseye was all I could remember. That's how forgettable Bens performance was.

I think JGL would be am amazing Daredevil.

Alan Tudyk.

At least then a Daredevil film will be intentionally laughable.

@_jackbauer I think its unfare to hate on the character becuase of that turd movie
some of marvels best comic stuff has been in daredevil, smith, bendis and brubakers runs on the title are pretty awesome

Daredevil is terrible.  But the question really is: who would defend it?  I for one would.  Unabashedly admit the 2003 is awful but I enjoy it regardless.  My pick for the new man without fear?  Zachary Levi, even though I admit I wouldn't want him to ruin whatever career he might have by making this his first big movie . . .

I think if Daredevil actually happens, I might just avoid getting into any storyline. Try not to get my hopes up and maybe it'll be good

Tommy Wiseau all the way.

I'm gonna say any actor who actually can deliver a performance that actually makes the Dare Devil seem like a threatening character to be afraid of.

Holy shit, Justin Timberlake as Daredevil is an incredible idea. This needs to happen.

Before Daniel Craig was a shitty Bond, I always thought he had the voice and chin for a good Matt Murdock.. Although he doesn't have a lot of fans thanks to wrecking Bond for us all.

I don't really know who would make a good Matt Murdock, but I will say they should bring Ben Affleck back... as the DIRECTOR of this movie. Watch The Town and then tell me he wouldn't be great for this.
