I'm honestly surprised by how good this looks. I know you're all going to hate me for this, I personally (I'm very intentioned with the use of "personally" here as I know everyone's a huge fan of Depp and saying even the slightest ill word is a sin), have been thinking that many of the offbeat characters that Johnny's been playing can sorta blend together. From Edward Scissorhands to Sweeney Todd we keep seeing white-gaunt-faced Johnny as he plays some sort of society outcast with long scissor hands, shaving knives or fingernails. It can start to feel like he's just making re-makes.
But from this featurette it looks like we may be talking about a horse of a different color.

I'm excited for it.
This looks fun...
Mack, I hope you're being sarcastic with your reluctance to critique Depp. I'd say it's widely agreed that he's been playing variations on the same character since about 2003, and that his Burton collabs have increasingly been especially vapid.
I still have some hopes for this one though, as maybe the strength of the cast (those not named Depp or Bonham Carter) can pull some uniqueness out of it. But although somewhat convincing, this featurette seems pretty sleazy in it's summation of the entire cinematic history of vampires, and then subtly placing itself at the top.
Well that did nothing to convince me that this movie is worth my time.
I was looking forward to this, but now... It just seems too modernized and Barnabas looks too effeminate for my tastes.
Damn maybe we've been too hard on the new Screened team, judging by how much Mack had to prepare for the hit he expected us to give him for that.
I don't Know, tim Burton Needs to work Twice has hard to do a good movie, and Putting his wife in the movie, is something he does but, from what i have heard, Depp is doing a role he has been in love with in this film, and the question i have is.... why isn't this a tv show? again?
I was anticipating the hell out of this...until I learned they turned it into a crap comedy.
Not hating on Depp nor Burton I love a lot of their assorted work. I just think this may not do all that well but I could be wrong. Releasing this movie around the same time as The Avengers with its comedic and "quirky" take on a cult TV show may not be the best move.
It will probably hit the DVD market a bit sooner than planned.

Good point... now come out from under the desk, Mack.
Personally, I agree with Mack. If you just take a look at the Johnny Depp's costume for the Lone Ranger, you can see some similarities between this and this. yeah I know the Depp's costume in the Lone Ranger is inspired by a painting, but you can't miss the similarities.
I just cant stand another 'Johnny Depp being weird' film. The pairing with Burton got boring years ago.
I'm still looking forward to this film, but I'm pissed off that the film is rated PG-13, I assumed a vampire film would be R-rated as all.
I don't think it looks good at all.
At least he doesn't sparkle...
