DVD/Blu-Ray: December 18th

Just in time to get you in the holiday spirit, Resident Evil is back. That's weird? Yes, you're right, that's weird.

It is at this time of year that I usually ignore movies that are coming out on DVD. With a big push to see all of the great films that come are released within the same few week period, December is a month for theaters. When looking at the DVD releases today, this is also necessary out of need, not just desire. While Premium Rush could be a fun ride (literally) there is nothing about it that is making me rush (get it?) to see it. Killer Joe is probably the best option and is supposed to be a great starring turn for Matthew McConaughey and a pretty solid dark, very dark, comedy. Pitch Perfect is also surprisingly good. Oh, and remember that Total Recall reboot disaster that happened? You can watch that at home now too.

DVD/Blu-Ray: December 18th

1. Resident Evil: Retribution

The latest installment in the Resident Evil franchise brings more Milla Jovovich in tight leather garments. Do with that what you would like.

2. Premium Rush

JGL gets on a bike and JGL stays on a bike for most of the movie. It is kind of like Speed on a fixie.

3. Killer Joe

When a young drug dealer has his stash stolen by his mother, he gets desperate and hatches a plan. That plan involves Killer Joe (McConaughey) and all of the craziness that comes with that brilliant man and idea.

4. Trouble with the Curve

Clint Eastwood's first role in a movie that he didn't direct and seems like the man in his 80s should stick to doing everything.

5. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days

There is more than one of these?!

6. Pitch Perfect

One of the best surprises of the year, the movie Pitch Perfect is a true gem. It follows the life of Becca (Anna Kendrick) and what happens when she joins her college a cappella group. It has a bit of a Bring it On meets Glee vibe but good.

7. The Good Doctor

This movie is about am ambitious doctor who becomes very creepy when he becomes obsessed with his patient. This is supposed to be a drama, but sounds more like a horror story.

8. Sleepwalk with Me

Mike Birbiglia is a comic. Mike Birbiglia is a funny comic. Mike Birbiglia is also a sleepwalker. In his feature film based on his life, he talks about being all of those things. It's a funny story, but mostly because it is true.

9. Futurama - Season 7

In true Family Guy style, Futurama is back after years being off air. The first 13 episodes of the new run are now available to be peeped on your DVD player. Future citizens of the galaxy, unite!

10. Shameless

Showtime's bold show about the Gallagher family has made it to season 2. This confuses me because while it might be good, does anyone actually watch it?? I don't know a single soul.

Wasn't Pitch Perfect in the theaters just a few months ago? It's surprising how quickly some of these movies come out on DVD.

I'll definitely be seeing Premium Rush, even though it doesn't look too interesting but I'll watch it because JGL is in it. It'll probably be just that and Pitch Perfect this week.

Edit: I Forgot about Sleepwalk With Me, which is on Netflix Instant so I'll probably watch that tonight.

@TopSteer: PREMIUM RUSH doesn't come out until Friday, btw.

Anyway, I can't wait to see PREMIUM RUSH. Am so disappointed I missed it in theaters.

Also, TOTAL RECALL comes out this week.

Dig Deeper into Shameless

Shameless is an American remake of the British dramedy of the same name. It revolves around Frank Gallagher and his children Fiona, Lip, Ian, Debbie and Carl as they try to make the most of their chaotic and dysfunctional lives.
