Do you ever have the experience after a long weekend where you just completely forget what day it is and think it is Monday all day? So that happened yesterday and I completely missed the fact that it was DVD/Blu-Ray release day. It's too bad also, because End of Watch was released and it is well worth a viewing session. In fact, it is one of the most realistic looks at the life of a cop that I have seen in a very long time. It is emotional and also incredibly violent, so prepare yourself. Two documentaries were also released and being a sucker for quality real stories, they both look fascinating.
Otherwise, there was not much released this week, but as some of these (ignore Paperboy) look like incredibly good movies, I couldn't skip a report this week – even with my lateness.
DVD/Blu-Ray: January 22nd
| 1. End of Watch Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena in this semi-found footage look at the life of policemen in LA who discover a secret of one of the cities biggest drug cartels. | |
| 2. The Imposter This film is a documentary..I think. It is filmed in that style, but seems to blur the line between fiction and reality. The story revolves around a 13 year old boy who disappeared without a trace. Three years later he was "found" in Spain, but after an investigator finds many differences, many wonder if he really was found? It's a strange story and even stranger if it is actually true. | |
| 3. Searching for Sugar Man Another documentary that I have heard some say is the best movie of 2012 and it was nominated for an Academy Award. I don't want to say much more as I think it will be better to go and discover for yourself. | |
| 4. The Paperboy The movie where Nicole Kidman pees on Zac Efron and I think that is all that deserves to be said about that one. |

End of Watch was one of my favorite movies from last year, and because of that, I'm really tempted to get it on Blu-Ray.
I've been meaning to see the Imposter and End of Watch, both look pretty good to me.
I've yet to see any of these, I've heard that End of watch was great so I'm going to give that one a go at very least.
