Quite the variety in movies released on DVD this week, but my personal choice by far is Moonrise Kingdom. It has thus far been one of my favorite movies of the year, and if you haven't seen it yet, please do. It's charming, it's funny and makes me want to go to summer camp and fall in love for the very first time.
If you would like family friendly, well, more family friendly fare, then the animated Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted is also available.
However, if what you really are desiring right now is to put yourself through some the misery of watching Adam Sandler play Andy Samberg's childlike father, I present you with That's My Boy. Good luck, I hope you survive.
| 1. Moonrise Kingdom If there was doubt that Wes Anderson's movies were taking a continual dive in quality, just watch this movie and your faith in the director will be restored. I couldn't love it more. | |
| 2. Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted The animals are on the run fighting to get home, but this time take a journey through the sites of Europe. It's entertaining and it's fun, and you can't really get "Mad" at that. | |
| 3. That's My Boy Watch at your own risk. That's all I have to say about that. | |
| 4. Chernobyl Diaries This horror film follows six vacationers who are going on an "extreme" tour and ignore warnings that they should not go near the Chernobyl nuclear reactor. Because, yes, that seems like a warning you should ignore. | |
| 5. Turn Me On, Dammit! If you would like to watch a 15 year old rack up extravagant phone sex bills, well, here you go. No, wait, I promise, it's not as creepy as it sounds! | |
| 6. Mad Men If you missed Megan Draper sing Zou, Bisou, Bisou or the plight of Lane Pryce, take a moment to watch this incredible season of Mad Men. | |
| 7. Alcatraz It's sad this series that had so much potential, was just never able to find its footing. However, it is kind of cool to see a series take place n the rare location of Alcatraz. It's worth a few hours of your time…only a few. |

Hells to the yeah, Moonrise Kingdom!
Moonrise Kingdom is one of the most original films I've seen this year, and I enjoyed it.
The only thing that's not stopping me from watching That's My Boy is that Brie, this lady I know who's a manager at my local Rays' Food Place told me that some of her customers have told her it's funny. I'm still hesitant though.
I love to watch horror movies on Halloween week, so I think I'll wait to see Chernobyl Diaries until then.
I've heard really good things about Turn Me On. A comedy about teenage libido told through a girl's perspective rather than a guy's? That already sounds refreshing.
And Moonrise Kingdom is brilliant.
