It's great to see a lot of Oscar worthy films coming to home video just barely in time for the Oscars. I kind of wish some of the smaller, lesser known, films that might not garner the most attention would also make deals to come to streaming. It could be a good opportunity to allow a lot of people to watch your film rather than making then commit to purchasing it. I know for me there are plenty of smaller films I'd love to see but don't want to risk spending $20+ in hopes that I'll actually like it.
|1. Thor: The Dark World|
Possibly the weakest of the recent Marvel releases but still not quite a flop. I get the feeling Marvel isn't quite sure what to do with characters like Thor of The Hulk. Without The Avengers films to tie these characters together it seems this was more filler than the next logical step in story. But it still made lots of money.
My favorite film of 2013. It was amazing to see what two actors and mostly green screen could be turned into. A thrilling and emotional film that I really hope gets its due during the Oscars. Maybe it isn't Best Film material but I wouldn't be shocked if it won.
Another Oscar film now available for home video. In an attempt to claim and million dollar prize Bruce Dern plays an alcohol abusive father trying to reconnect with his son.
|4. Blue is the Warmest Color|
A very adult film about a young woman finding love, herself, and growing as a person. Despite being known as "that film with all the sex" it's also been accepted as a great and impactful story. I wouldn't pop this one in during Thanksgiving with your family but it's definitely worth seeing.
