The best part of living in an almost all digital future is how quickly movies and TV come to home video now. I'm still attached to my things so when a film I really enjoyed is out on Blu-Ray I just must have it sitting on my shelf. Knowing I can watch something even after the world ends provides solace for some reason. Thought it leaves movies I'm still unsure about, like The Bling Ring or Spring Breakers, left in the dust unless they happen to come to a streaming service or two. Even digital rentals would be fine even if they charge too much in my opinion.
1. World War Z
Another summer blockbuster makes it to home video and this is one I didn't get a chance to get out and see. I was fully expecting this to flounder at the box office but instead it triumphed. It didn't win over every critic but a lot of movie goers enjoyed it. So maybe this is your chance, as well as mine, to finally see it.
2. The Bling Ring
The problem with the summer movie season for smaller movies can be getting lost in the shuffle. Throw in a small release schedule and a general dislike by critics and Bling Ring simply didn't succeed. But when a film sports the Coppola name you have to pay some attention.
The first season for this actually good comic book based TV show is out on Blu-Ray. Hopefully the upcoming Agents of SHIELD can take notice on how to do a show and not look back at some failures like The Cape.
Season two comes out for this fairy tale show. I still manage to get this confused with Once Upon a Time whenever either are mentioned. Despite knowing what both are about I just can never keep the two straight.
5. Bates Motel
And finally season one for this underwhelming show is now out. While some found something to enjoy from Bates Motel not everyone enjoyed it. When you have something Hannibal out doing you at every turn it can be hard to set yourself apart.
