Apart from that, you have Country Strong to look forward to. You know, if you're into that kind of thing. I wish I could discuss the ending of this film with you, because it's so relentlessly melodramatic that I almost couldn't help but laugh when I was watching it. Still, pretty girls, decent music, and a searing look at the tenuous political situation in post-war Berlin: what more could you ask for?
Also appearing: a number of other films, including two Pixar classics: Cars and The Incredibles, both of which hit Blu-Ray for what I presume is the first time. Well, one of those is a classic, at least.

1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I
Yeah, I guess this was popular. I'm kind of surprised they're releasing it now; generally these things are put out a week or two before their sequels come out, especially when they're this close together, to get people pumped up for the new film. But I guess the Potter movies are such reliable $900 million machines that Warner Bros. doesn't really have to worry about. For some reason this is coming out on Friday instead of Tuesday, and there's also a Dobby bookend edition should you so desire it. There's also a bizarre Harry Potter Years 1-7 Gift Set coming out, as well. Why would you buy that now when the last movie in the series is going to be on disc in six or seven months? |

2. Country Strong
I still kind of admire anyone who can make such a straightforward melodrama in this day and age. This is a Lifetime movie writ large, and is stupid as all hell, but the music's pretty catchy and you can enjoy it if you don't think too hard. |

3. White Material
That title means pretty much what you think it means: white lady desperate to hold onto her family's coffee plantation as an African civil war bears down on her. |

4. Marwencol
It's rare for any film to maintain a 100% Rotten Tomatoes meter, let alone with over 50 reviews, but this documentary, about a man viciously beaten into a coma, only to emerge with a desire to recreate a WWII-era Belgian town in miniature in his back yard. |
5. Heartless
Any film that can describe itself as "part Donnie Darko, part Guillermo Del Toro" has my attention, at least. |
6. Cars
Ah, the worst of Pixar comes to high-definition Blu-Ray. It's hard to judge this film; it's the worst Pixar has made, but that's still a far sight better than most other films that come out these days. |
7. The Incredibles
NOW we're talking. The Incredibles is arguably my favorite Pixar film, and comes to Blu-Ray on a four-disc Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy set. Now here's a movie I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel to, at least far more than a Cars sequel. |
8. Le Cercle rouge
The full-length director's cut of this crime drama from the director of Le Samourai is seen for the first time in America (apparently), thanks to Criterion. Should be worth a rental! |
9. Farewell
I meant to catch this when it came to theaters, but it seemed a bit depressing. An espionage thriller with a bizarre cast: Diane Kruger, Willem Dafoe, Guillaume Canet (director of Tell No One), and Fred Ward, of all people. |
10. Behind the Burly Q
A documentary about Burlesque. Shockingly enough, Dita Von Teese managed to not be filmed for it. |
11. H.R. Pufnstuf
The world's most obvious weed reference comes to DVD with H.R. Pufnstuf: Complete Series Collector's Edition, alongside Dallas: The Movie Collection, Car 54 Where Are You: Complete First Season, Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D-List, Seasons 3 and 4, Man vs. Wild: Season 5, Dragnet 1970: Season Four, and Whitney Cummings: Money Shot. |

I think Tangled is next on my Netflix queue. I'm looking forward to seeing that one. My wife loved it.

Because smart people use critical thinking. Stupid people buy them. Because they're stupid.
Unfortunately, the only Pixar movie my wife doesn't like is The Incredibles, which is like one of the best movies ever. She has a problem with the tone that the wife is left to run the household while the husband sneaks out and gets to live his superhero life, then she gets dragged into everything and it's all hunky-dory. I get her point, but man it is such a great movie and I don't ever watch it anymore.
