I must admit, I am fascinated by what will happen with one of the DVD/Blu-Ray releases today, and probably not for reasons that I should be. Snow White and the Huntsman, is being released, and while it did better at the box office than many expected, it has know become known as the movie that born the Robsten scandal that broke up the romance between the two Twilight stars, after Kristen Stewart was caught on camera making out with director, Rupert Sanders. I am not as much interested in that, but more interested as to whether that will help or hurt the DVD sales of the film. Sadly, the one person it might help the most is Rupert Sanders, as before the scandal, not many people actually knew his name, and now it's hard to escape a day without seeing it.
The other big news in the home video world this week is the re-release of Titanic. This time it is available with a DVD/Blu-Ray/digital package and another set of yet to be released features. It's hard to believe, but this is the first time the film will be available on high-definition Blu-Ray and digital download. The four disc set also includes two new documentaries, 30 deleted scenes, 60 behind-the-scenes features, three different commentary tracks, photos, storyboards, schematics and random goodies like SNL's Titanic skit and the handy time-saver Titanic in 30 Seconds. At least they aren't lacking for content...
DVD/Blu-Ray: September 11th
1. Snow White & the Huntsman
This film says that Kristen Stewart is fairer than Charlize Theron and that makes sense how?
Making another $60 million on the 3D rerelease, James Cameron really has proven he is the King of the World.
3. What to Expect When You're Expecting
If you are expecting for this movie to be good, think again. It makes me think twice that it might be a bad idea to adapt a self-help book in to a movie. Oh wait, never mind, that was never a good idea.
4. For Greater Glory
Andy Garcia stars in the movie that tells the "real" story of the 1920s Cristero war and the daring peoples revolt that rocked North America. Is that like rocking the vote?
5. Girl In Progress
Eva Mendes as a single mom trying to juggle life and her affair with a married man. It looks very indie but potentially very sweet.
6. Spartacus: Vengeance - The Complete Second Season
7. The Big Bang Theory - The Complete Fifth Season
There is a geek wedding involved, but that's all I know.
8. The Vampire Diaries
The good vs evil Vampire love triangle between brothers that somehow is totally normal.
