Even Inception's Music is Designed To Mess You Up

Also, seriously, WHO EVEN NOTICES THIS?!?

I don't even know what to say to this. Just watch...or, rather, listen. Goddammit Christopher Nolan, you unrepentant mindfucker!

Tylea002on July 27, 2010 at 3:31 p.m.
Hanz zimmer deliberately used that song in different ways for the Soundtrack, so I'm not at all surprised.
soralapioon July 27, 2010 at 3:31 p.m.
Literally JUST came home from the movies. My movie of the year so far and it's little details like this that made it so amazing.
MarkWahlbergon July 27, 2010 at 3:31 p.m.
Well, they did merge the two songs in the actual movie... repeatedly... so it's not that surprising. Still cool though.
VaultDweller13on July 27, 2010 at 3:32 p.m.
Wait, if it's the same song then... I must be dreaming.  Where's my totem!?
Matthewon July 27, 2010 at 3:33 p.m.
*mindblown*

Seriously, I could feel the smile creeping across my face once the halfway mark hit.
Pure awesome.
RockinKemosabeon July 27, 2010 at 3:36 p.m.
Hans Zimmer I guess still has some talent left.
dvorakon July 27, 2010 at 3:37 p.m.
I felt the "holy shit this is awesome" tingle down my spine just listening to the musical cue. That's the sign of a good score/film harmony.
TrulyAliveon July 27, 2010 at 3:40 p.m.

Inceptions score is noticeably very experimental for Zimmer. This only adds to that level of absurd genius.
onlineatronon July 27, 2010 at 3:40 p.m.
As a aspiring music composer/industry worker... All I can say is.

CAN I BE HANS ZIMMER NOW PLOX?!!!
Coolarmanon July 27, 2010 at 3:40 p.m.
I am losing my shit over here
girdzon July 27, 2010 at 3:45 p.m.
I've been listening to this for a week, I wondered why there was stuff written in poop on my walls.
AngeTheDudeon July 27, 2010 at 3:46 p.m.
What a mindfuck!
Beomooseon July 27, 2010 at 3:47 p.m.
Wow, I mean WOW
DMackon July 27, 2010 at 3:49 p.m.
"I regret nothing", a pretty apropos choice of tune, too.
Mowgerson July 27, 2010 at 3:52 p.m.
The Edith Piaf song is on the soundtrack too, it just pops in over one of the tracks towards the end.

You don't expect it. Then you wonder if it's on the soundtrack at all, and if in reality you're really dreaming, and someone's playing it to you as you lie somewhere, unconscious.

Then you don't sleep for a week because you don't know what's real anymore.
Beomooseon July 27, 2010 at 3:54 p.m.
@DMack: Indeed
Cybexxon July 27, 2010 at 3:54 p.m.
I do love how that parallels the time compression as if the full speed song is coming through to us from another layer. Reminds me that I sat through the credits and "Non, je ne regrettete rien" plays at the end before transitioning into the main theme as the Title Card appears, thought that was giving a hint to something.
KME93on July 27, 2010 at 4:09 p.m.
Arghh this has blown my mind a bit I think i have inception fever guys. On a personal note this is not the only music inception related to blow my mind there is one song , the trailer song that literally blows mind out of my head. BROOOONG! I think thats how you would spell that sound out im not sure though

Dig Deeper into Inception

Leonardo DiCaprio plays a futuristic "dream thief", who finds himself on the run, accused of the murder of his wife. The only way to regain his old life back is by doing an almost impossible task: "inception" the planting of an idea into a person's subconscious.
