Expendables 2 Plot A Bittersweet Love Letter To Mickey Rourke?

This time, it's personal.

But who will tattoo my back when you're gone, Tool?
But who will tattoo my back when you're gone, Tool?

Anybody else raise their eyebrow a little about the name of Mickey Rourke’s character in the Expendables? Tool? Really? Stallone usually tries hard to be hip to the times, but I guess he somehow missed all the, shall we say, negative implications that come with calling somebody a tool in 2010.

I bring that up because weapons-making, tattoo-inking, chopper-driving Mr. Tool will have a smaller-but-more-significant role in the Expendables 2. Nu Image/Millenium has just released an official synopsis for the flick that thusly reads…

“The Expendables are back and this time it's personal! After Tool (Mickey Rourke), the heart and soul of the Expendables, is brutally murdered on a mission, his comrades swear to avenge him. They're not the only ones who want blood. Tool’s beautiful young and wild daughter Fiona embarks on her own revenge mission, complicating matters when she is captured and ransomed by a ruthless dictator plotting to destroy a resistance movement. Now Barney and the Expendables must risk everything to save her and humanity.”

Given the news about Van Damme angling to play a villainous enforcer in this second macho outing, I suspect his character will likely be doing the dirty work of the ruthless dictator described above. Or maybe he’ll be working for another mercenary intermediary (Willis? Schwarzenegger?) and make this sequel’s plot even closer to that of the original?

Casting speculation for a role in an Expendables sequel will unlikely ever garner as much enthusiasm and discussion as even the smallest supporting role in a comics movie typically does. Still, I'll put the question out - - who would you Screened Heads want playing Fiona and offsetting all the testeterone?

They’d have to rewrite the part some, but we all know that Cynthia Rothrock is the only suitable choice.

Any female actress who is decent looking and willing to show her bodacious ta-tas is OK with me.  Why be picky?  Yes I am an ass.

Will Rourke's character be killed due to the collagen in his lips as they swell shut, cutting off his oxygen?  The rhinoplasty work also collapsing?  Oh, wait, his character gets murdered.  Not as exciting.

OK< just being a...tool...but Expendables was OK, could've been better.  A #2 would be good to see, hoping they do get Van Damme, why not.  Sounds like fun.

" Sarah Michelle Gellar "
This would be my pick for the daughter, too.  She doesn't have too much big screen action hero experience, but few women under 40 do.  The only other choice in my mind is Angelina Jolie and I just don't believe she brings as much of the "camp" that SMG would.  Both women are in the mid 30's right now, so it's a toss up in that regard.  Keira Knightley is a possibility if the producers wanted someone younger, but she's not all that beefy.

Chances are they'll go with someone we've never heard of.  Oh and Cynthia Rothrock is 54 while Mickey Rourke is 58.  She'd be better suited to play "Fiona's" mother.

You know it just occurred to me.  If the woman's name is "Fiona" why not Cameron Diaz?

I don't care WHAT the plot is about, but they better get JCVD to fight both Jason Statham and Jet Li at once, even if he has to lose.

I mean Eliza Dushku

I don't think I'm sold that it's the plot of the movie just yet. For one thing it seems odd to me that Rourke would be killed after they let Dolph live in the first movie (maybe it's just me but I thought he was dead until he showed up at the end like a damn freeze frame capping the end of a Growing Pains episode).

Another thing is that AintItCoolNews had promo art for it but it was like the poster to "Laid To Rest" but with a head wound and the number 2. I think it's too early for this movie to be coming together enough to leak such specific details.

If it is the case then it better be damn good, nobody messes with Mickey, Stallone is no exception!

The Rock. The Rock is clearly the perfect person to play Mickey Rourke's daughter.

um.... depending on who would be playing the mother, and based on the chances that members of the team would plausibly be expected to move around the world on missions. there's a chance that tool could have used his... well you know.... in any country. So seeing as we have seen her as a bad-ass so many times maybe
Michelle Rodriguez
would also be a good choice. If nothing else it'd be cool to see her as a character in the movie.

Also just for the hell of it i wanna see "beat" takeshi make an appearance ... because , i'm you know, fun like that.
