First Image Of Tom Hardy As Bane!

Tom Hardy gets jacked for this one.

Yeah, buddy!
Yeah, buddy!

There you have it. The first official image of Tom Hardy as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises has been released. And what a glorious sight it is. The image was found on TheDarkKnightRises.com. When you go to the site, all you hear is a series of chanting set against a black screen. Some people with more than a little time on their hands analyzed the chanting and traced it back to a twitter account to reveal of mosaic of Tom Hardy as Bane (click here to check it out). Eventually, after a little tinkering, a few fans were able to discover the full image.

Ladies and gentlemen, that’s how you kick off a viral marketing campaign. I’ve attached the full-size image of Hardy below along with one from the comics for comparison.

Bronson vs. Batman!

One from the comic:

Balco would be proud.
Balco would be proud.

And just for fun:

Remember him?
Remember him?

In all seriousness, I think we'll be getting a much better adaptation of Bane this time around. I have a feeling (along with everyone else in the world) Tom Hardy is going to knock this one out of the park. If you haven't seen Bronson, go find yourself a copy. It's definitely worth a watch.

And, just in case you were wondering, the folks at Superherohype are saying the chanting translated to "#the fire rises," which is what led them to twitter for more clues. Now, what exactly "the fire rises" means is a mystery to me. Maybe it has something to do with the League of Shadows? Any of you care to venture a guess?

Looking promising!

I wonder why they decided not to give him the mask he is famous for. The one Hardy wears looks odd, like a skeleton hand is covering his mouth.
Daveyo520on May 20, 2011 at 2:11 p.m.
I wonder how they will explain his origin. Just regular steroids?

You might be surprised, they had that crazy fear gas in Batman:Begins. It doesn't seem too much of a stretch that they'll include a form of super steroids in this.

Looks alright to me. I kind of wish it was his original mask, but so long as the character is well presented it won't be a huge deal.

Also, Randy Savage dies the same day we see Bane. Coincidence or reincarnation? You be the judge.

Jesus Barfy Christ, what is that thing on his right shoulder? Wait, is that his shoulder? Does his shoulder have a shoulder?!?!

Regardless, Tom Hardy man crush in FULL EFFECT (i.e. complete erection).

I really wish they had a better mask for him. Still not enough to convince to see this movie.

This mask is so he can, you know, act.

Hard to believe that it's the same guy who played Handsome Bob.

So much free time.

Never really cared much for Bane as a villain, but I think I'm starting to develop a man-crush on Tom Hardy, so this is cool.

Is that an eye in the darkness?

Good luck with this one. I don't know much of Hardy's work but as a Batman fan I am looking forward to this. Don't care for the mask either.

I think the figure we see in the background is Catwoman.
