Good Things Come In Bunnies! CGI Bugs Bunny Movie On The Way

Warner Bros is bringing a combo live action/CG Bugs Bunny to his own feature-length film.

Deadline has revealed that Warner Bros has begun work on Bugs Bunny, a feature film based on the legendary Toon. It looks to be going the Yogi Bear route with a blend of CG and live-action.

Writing the feature is David Berenbaum ( Elf, The Spiderwick Chronicles), who is also reportedly working on another animated project with George Lucas. Space Jam fans (looking at you, Navarro...) will recall that this isn't the first animated/live-action feature Warner has attempted with Looney Tunes characters. In the case of that movie, they scored a big hit, but then there's always Brendan Fraser's bomb, Looney Tunes: Back In Action, to serve as a cautionary tale.  Let's hope the Frase-dawg isn't going to be a part of this.

Warner has a trilogy of 3D short films being shown before similarly branded films, the first of which aired before Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore. The second will appear with Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, and the third with Yogi Bear.  Terrible, terrible synergy.

Oh, also, I just wanted to share this image of shirtless Chuck Norris that I found HERE while googling Bugs Bunny pictures.

I like traditional hand drawn animation, I don't need a cgi bugs bunny kissing Brendan Fraser who is undoubtedly lingering around this project somewhere.

It'll never be able to capture the charm of the original cartoons.

Drop the Bunny, and step away from the computer.

can I just say that I love the title and hope with all my heart that "Good things come in X" becomes a meme...

Jesus this is a coin flip.  Cartoon re-dos of classics come off like they are trying to hard to replicate classics.  Is Tex Avery still alive, or Chuck Jones?  Maybe if they get the guy who did Muppets in Space, or the Wallace and Grommit can this work.  The Grommit creater made Flushed Away and it's so damn funny and under rated.  Or the guy who did CGI movie with all the fairy tale characters.  The Big Bad Wold, Toad.  The first voice over work done by Patric Warburton.  It'll depend on the director.
