The story takes place in a space prison orbiting the Earth where 500 of the world's most dangerous prisoners are held. When the station is taken over by the inmates and they take the President's daughter (played by Grace) hostage, Pearce is the only man who can save her and win his freedom.
Not enough sci-fi movies are made these days, and this sounds pretty ridiculous, in an awesome, fun way. Maybe it needs a Defending Your Movie, but The Fifth Element is still one of my favorite sci-fi movies of the last couple decades, so with him writing and producing, I have high hopes for this.

Seriously though, Guy Pearce turned out to be an awesome actor and I'd pretty much watch him in anything now - apart from the 230 odd episodes of Neighbours - and Maggie Grace is visually tolerable. Written and produced by Luc Besson, on the other hand, doesn't have the same ring of quality it used to have.
Seriously! Who doesn't like The Fifth Element?
Stupid people, that's who.
Seriously though Maggie Grace? She is consistently annoying. I was almost hoping Liam Neeson wouldn't rescue her in Taken. Almost.
Guy Pearce is always great, so I'm already down with this cast.
Oh, and Fifth Element doesn't need to be defended. It's just awesome. Inexplicably so? Maybe. But most people like it for one reason or another.
Am I the only person that thinks that picture at the top looks like Pauly Shore, not Guy Pearce. I hate Guy Pearce... but mostly because I hate his caracters. I guess that means he's a pretty good actor. As for The Fifth Element, HECK YEAH! Sci-Freakin-Fi!
"You see, I have this condition..."
I think it has more to do with the fact he acts smug and like a jerk-hole in his movies (and sometimes in person). Also, all of his characters are the same douchebag. Memento was just him as a forgetful douchebag . Also, it had a pretty awesome director. That helped a lot.
