Screened News

Hello from BermanBraun

We are happy to be here.

Dear Screened Community,

Hello – it is nice to meet you.

I know there has been a lot of discussion around the future of Screened during the transition of the parent company, Whiskey Media, and I want to first and foremost assure you that we are excited to make Screened a part of the BermanBraun family. We have no intention of shutting it down, or “winterizing it,” or doing anything else that would keep this site from continuing to build and thrive in the direction you all have created from your participation.

With change, however, comes some realities that we don’t want to gloss over. We respect you all too much to do these things behind a shroud, or act like things aren’t happening when they are. You will see some new voices popping up around the site, but as these names show up, the purpose of community and participation is having a healthy open place to have discussions around editorial and the perspective that both the editorial and community bring to the table. That is what Screened is at its core - a place for fans to talk and engage with each other about their love of movies and entertainment. Those fans can be staff working on the site, and they can be you, the community, who give and share opinions in this great online destination that you all have created.

Another reality in this situation is that while Matt Rorie has been gracious in his help during this transition, he is moving on from the Screened family. It is with no small amount of gratitude that we recognize the time and energy he has put into the build and sustainment of Screened. He has poured himself into this role for quite some time, and we know that when he looks back on everything Screened will become, he can take a lot of credit for helping cultivate the seed that you all have planted and that we plan to continue to grow.

So for now we turn it to you. We have some incredible things planned for the evolution of Screened that will leverage the best of the best in Hollywood and beyond. We will share much more over time, but can say that we plan to give you, the Screened family, incredible access to the world of movies and TV like no one else in this space can. However, what is more important to us than anything, is that we want you all to know that each and everyone of you who made Screened are top of mind for us as we make our plans to grow the site. It is you who have built it, and you who will continue to live in it. We value each and every one of you as part of the whole, and know we have you to answer to as this evolution continues

We hope you stick it out with us. We promise to do everything we can to make it worth your while.

Thanks,

BermanBraun Team

Rorie and Alex were the only reason I came to the site. So bye and good luck I guess since I don't see why I'd bother coming to check it out.

Looking forward to seeing what an LA-based Screened staff can do. I'll miss Matt, of course, but I'm still on board with the site. Lead on, Berman Braun.

My hope is that whom you bring on to the new Screened team will have the entertaining personality and insight that many of us here come to expect and if they do then we will welcome them gladly with open arms. Thanks for keeping Screened going.

Get lost.

Davinon April 2, 2012 at 1:49 p.m.

I'm out, I was mainly here for Alex and Rorie anyways. Congrats on buying your screened.com domain. The place isn't going to be the same. Closing this window, peace.

themartyron April 2, 2012 at 1:50 p.m.

I for one welcome our new overlords.

Wikitoupson April 2, 2012 at 1:50 p.m.

I'll check out and see what goes on, Hope the new team is as good as Alex and Rorie!

I'm not normally against changes, but what has happend to the Whiskey Media family saddens me. I used to use Giant Bomb, Tested and Screened everyday, but now it's only Giant Bomb. Screened lost Alex and Matt, what made this site so unique and wonderful. Good luck anyway, BermanBraun.

Pretty much this.

litrockon April 2, 2012 at 1:51 p.m.

Well, I intend to still stick around with my various ongoing articles, so ... maybe that'll convince someone? Anyone? ... :-/

;) Thanks, BB-team. Hopefully we'll get some names and faces soon and you can be our new cool friends too.

Alex_Carrilloon April 2, 2012 at 1:52 p.m.

@brentnahmias44: Yeah, I'm with you.

Good luck with everything and all, but without the heart and soul of this site I don't see any reason to return. Perhaps I'll come back sometime to see what it's changed into, and hopefully it'll be great.

For now, *deletes from bookmarks bar*.

SpunkyJunkyon April 2, 2012 at 1:54 p.m.

I came here mostly for Rorie and Alex too, not sure if I'll stick around with both of them gone, but I wish the new guys all the best.
