You ever notice how people who make the screen captures for movie trailers on Youtube always pick the part of the trailer where there's some boobs hanging out? It's fairly invariable. I can't necessarily say I blame them, as boobs=clicks on the internet, but still. Or maybe whoever picked the still above is just a real big fan of tasers. (Note that the teaser above is probably NSFW for a couple of shots.)
Anyway, this is a quick teaser for David Cronenberg's new film Cosmopolis, a relatively short Don DeLillo novel (at least, for DeLillo). Robert Pattinson's in it, so feel free to commence the teeth-gnashing and belly-aching. We'll all have to get over him eventually, I think, though. Might as well start now, especially if it means that you let yourself see a new Cronenberg. It is odd that the film claims to be coming out in May, but still doesn't have a full trailer, although maybe it's only coming out in May in France.

I wouldn't have believed that David Cronenberg was a person unless Alex had interviewed him that one time. Always figured him to be some kind of Terminator style robot, sent back in time to live among us and creep us out with his movies.
I want my body horror Cronenberg back.
Even though he's pretty low key in that trailer, this could be a good film with Robert Pattercake in it, which is something!
Well, already slightly unnerved by those fast clips, so it looks good so far!
Has anyone read the story it's based on?
Actually looks really cool.
You know, I can't wait for this. It looks as fucked up as I want a Cronenberg movie to be, and maybe Rob is going to be good. I think my favorite part about this is picturing the look on the faces of hardcore Twilight fans as they watched Pattinson blow a hole through his hand.
Oh shit, looks like body horror Chronenberg is back, I had no idea. Might have to watch eXistenZ and Videodrome again in his honor.
Also, the trailer really reminded me of Enter the Void's title sequence (gem of a movie if you're after something different).
Cronenberg is hit or miss with me. Want to see more of this, looks interesting
@JimmyPancakes:
What? Pattinson shooting himself in the hand isn't good enough for you?
Giant fire-barking deer versus a giant boar... dude shoots through his hand and does it in a limo. Yeah, okay... Cronenberg.
I trust Cronenberg. Pattinson kind of looks like a young Viggo Mortensen.
Too bad many people's introduction to Don Delillo will be through his mediocre Cosmopolis.
I don't have particularly high hopes for the film either. At this point, post Fight Club, American Psycho, ect., this stuff doesn't seem very subversive. Stripped of Delillo's prose, the ironic draw here seems to be vicariously partaking in the very lifestyle the work is trying to critique.
Ultimately I think it is best if books stay books, and this adapting nonsense is too often just that. Admittedly, the book has enough appeal to garner a studio's interest, especially with the political climate since the financial crash, but surely there are Delillo works more worthy of adaptation?
Big Cronenberg fan, but mostly of his old stuff. I hope this lives up to his name :/
Live stream of my thoughts while watching the trailer:
Oooo boobs boobs boobs OMG WHAT ARE THEY DOING TO THAT GUY'S EYE?!?!

Such as? I'm not at all familiar with him, but this trailer and your post have piqued my interest. So what would you recommend?
i feel like i just watched a trailer for a movie from the 90s.
Should I wait to see this until I catch it randomly on late night Tv?
