High-Res, Texture-Rich Photos Of Andrew Garfield As The New Spider-Man

And Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. You know which one you're really more excited for.

To fulfill the now annual tradition of EW debuting superheroes with oddly-textured outfits on the week before Comic Con, here are some pics iFanboy’s gathered of Andrew Garfield from the Amazing Spider-Man. It’s simply too silly for me to start speculating about next summer’s blockbuster season when we aren’t even out of this year’s yet, but I’ll still say that I’ve good expectations for this flick (“reboot” or no.) If Batman’s origin was unexplored enough to warrant Batman Begins, then Peter Parker’s high school years are certainly still due enough screen time to justify making this flick. In my view, Spidey’s at his best when he has to get his crime fighting done in time to be home for dinner, and, as much I liked the first couple Raimi/Maguire flicks, it did feel like they skimmed over that period a little too briskly.

Anyway, peruse the snappies below…

I alluded to Green Lantern’s sinewy photo-spread from last year, but I think First Class is more apt for comparison. Licensed Marvel movie. New director. 4th film in a series. A back-to-the-beginning reboot. Out of all the similarities, however, the most important is how a lot skeptics are doubting this’ll already. Like I’ve been saying, Marc Webb made an excellent film (500 Days Of Summer) and a lot of great music videos. Barring any possible redundant re-telling of the origin, I think he's going to make all the doubters eat their words next year.

Plus, it's got Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy.

Despite me getting the urge to play basketball when I look at him, I think the only thing I don't like about it is the spider logo on his chest. To me it just isn't bold enough. It really needs to stand out more.

The simple fact that theyre making a Spider-Man movie with someone I actually like as Spider-Man has me excited. The rest of the cast being pretty cool and the fact that I loved (500) Days of Summer only makes me more thrilled.

Is this Spiderman supposed to be a nerd too?  'Cause he sure doesn't look like one.
onlineatronon July 14, 2011 at 2:40 p.m.

Pinchuk! A certain someone isn't going to be very happy that you didn't use the Emma Stone/Gwen Stacy pic as the header!

Anyway, I'm fully on board with this. '(500) Days...' is a film I hold in higher regard than any member of the Y-chromosome club should. I think Andrew Garfield is great, and I would do AWFUL things to Emma Stone (I'm talking real nasty) - I'm a fan of Easy A too.

Oh, and Spiderman, Spiderman is awesome.

More Spectacular Spiderman, please, Disney!

The Spalding comment made me laugh, thanks Tom.

Is there any hope for this movie?

Iconon July 14, 2011 at 2:43 p.m.
I love that the suit looks like it can stretch and breathe, as opposed to Tobey's, and that they finally have an actor who actually looks like Peter Parker this time. I also love the detailing on the Spider symbol.

I couldn't be more excited for this movie. XD
MisterMouseon July 14, 2011 at 2:43 p.m.
well it doesn't seem like it will have the darkness I hoped for, but I am still cautiously optimistic.
xeroxkittyon July 14, 2011 at 2:44 p.m.

These look great! I didn't want to care for the new Amazing Spider-Man film, but these give me a lot of hope :)

Milkmanon July 14, 2011 at 2:52 p.m.

Dude looks like Spider Man. I'm much more interested in photos of Emma Stone.

DoNotBanMeon July 14, 2011 at 2:52 p.m.
umm he really doesn't look like peter parker... are they going for a Ultimate look?
VioletEyedDragonon July 14, 2011 at 2:52 p.m.
spidey looks pretty cool  :)  faithful to the comic, but different enough from the sam raimi version,.
MrMazzon July 14, 2011 at 2:53 p.m.

Looks good the spider symbol seems a bit small to me but he seems built like dominick cruz so its understandable. The costume looks worn I like that. Hopefully this movie won't suck.

Really excited for this movie. Spiderman has always been my favorite superhero, and I absolutely love the cast and director's prior work. It could be legitimately great.

While Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy is pretty perfect casting, I have heard little mention of Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben and Sally Fields as Aunt May, which are [somehow] just as good.
TearsInRainon July 14, 2011 at 3:03 p.m.
I hope these are good.  That's all I have to say.
CharlesAlanRatliffon July 14, 2011 at 3:11 p.m.

Man, I can feel that costume in my mind.

Also, Emma Stone is looking extra beautiful as Gwen.

Anyhow here is a pic from the set of Emma as Gwen......it appears to be a funeral scene.
