Laugh with Ted, Get Naked with Magic Mike or Hide with Madea

Big weekend for moviegoers, and by big, I mean some "big" decisions. We have four major releases this weekend, so this means if you are venturing out to the theaters, you have a lot of choices. What will it be for you? Are you into the stylings of a dirty raunchy talking teddy bear? Would you like to watch Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey shake their grove thing while not wearing many clothes? Or, maybe you would like to see Tyler Perry's Madea house some people in the witness protection program? And last and maybe (but maybe not?) least we have People Like Us – in which Chris Pine deals with a family tragedy and some big surprises and tries to turn into a better man. Personally, I haven't yet decided where my money is going, so it might be a game time decision. However, let me get real, it will also probably depend on what is playing in the small town in the mountains of Colorado where I will be this weekend. This could be a fun gamble.

Oh, and if you are up for a gamble, join in the Box Office Winners League!

1. Ted

Seth MacFarlane's first foray into features comes with this movie starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis and himself as he voices the role of Ted. I know that I always wished my teddy would come to life, so I think I have a strange desire to run out and see this. And, the trailer makes me laugh. Hard.

2. Magic Mike

If you believe Matthew Marko (which I usually do), it is a great movie and worth seeing on all accounts…even if you don't have a desire to see naked men stripping.

3. Tyler Perry's Madea's Witness Protection

Madea returns and this time is joined by Eugene Levy who is sent to the witness protection program at Madea's house after he is set up as the fall guy for a mob-backed Ponzi scheme. Oh, and Denise Richards is in this too. Really?

4. People Like Us

I like me some Chris Pine, and I want this to be good, but then again, it looks so sticky sweet, it feels like it might give me a cavity.

5. Take This Waltz

A new film by Sarah Polley that explores love, lust and relationships. Starring Michelle Williams playing Margot who is married to Lou (Seth Rogen) but begins to question herself and her life when she has some fairly intense meetings with a guy named Daniel (Luke Kirby). Reviews are good, and if you are looking for some lighter love themes this weekend, this could be it.

6. Beasts of the Southern Wild

The film came out of Sundance with amazing buzz and one of the top 2012 Jury Prizes from this year's festival. The story follows a young six-year-old girl with a wild imagination that has to face some real world problems when a huge storm changes her life and not for the better.

7. The Matchmaker

I'm not sure what to think about this Israeli film, but the description sounds wildly entertaining. A teenage boy gets a job for a matchmaker who has an office in the back of a movie theater that only shows love stories. The young man then falls in love with a girl named Tamara and learns much about women's rights, free love and rock and roll during this strange period of his life.

8. Unforgivable

Another foreign entry as a successful crime writer moves to Venice and what happens when he falls in love with a mysterious woman and has her followed. Andre Techine's new film looks intriguing and heartbreaking all at the same time.

I thought the trailer for Ted was funny, but I'm not sure I want to see the movie. I have enough trouble to get through 20 minutes of new Family Guy, I can't imagine sitting through an almost two hour film of Seth McFarlane's humour.

I didn't even know a Tyler Perry movie was coming out this week and I live in Detroit! Has Tyler Perry lost it or something?

It's Spider-Man week!!! Really weird watching a new movie on a Tuesday but man I really want this one to be good. Spider-man 3 was just sooo bad like I thought X3 was bad but S3 was terrible. Hopefully it can channel X-Men First Clss

I pretty much want to see every major wide release this weekend. Ted looks hysterical judging by the trailers, and I am a fan of Family Guy. Also, I think the Madea movies are funny, so I'm up for this one, to.

I'm still on the fence about Magic Mike though, so I think I need to hear some feedback on it first.

@AlKusanagi: Really? what about Take This Waltz? i'm just going to wait for it, but Sarah Polly Rocks!
